I heard from someone that Nemrah Ahmed isn’t writing anything since her mother has passed away. I even saw a couple of her Instagram posts where she talked about her mother and the grief. My heart went out for her.

Now, reading the second episode of Maala, I feel as if Nemrah has used all of her pain and heartache into writing this novel. She is not just a good storyteller, but also a smart woman. It takes courage to turn your pain into a story, it takes calm to channelize your angst into something constructive. That’s what she had done. Hats off to her. There are people like her who convert their worst of memories into a memorable piece of fiction, and those like me who keep their worries buried deep inside for fear that sharing those stories would somehow lead to a disaster in real life.

Alright, with that, let’s review the second episode of Kashmala’s story.

This episode primarily covers how Kashmala, Moeed and Maahi deal with Hoor e Jahan’s deteriorating memory and deviating face. Without giving any spoilers, I will just mention this much – this episode will break your heart and make you value your parents a lot more than you already do.

We see a little bit of flashback into Kaif’s first meeting with Mahir Fareed and Malik, the manager. Kaif has negotiated so Mahir would fund and mentor Kaif. He drives a hard bargain, doesn’t he. We also learn that Kaif isn’t just “a” random man Mahir picked for the job. He is “the” man. Why? We don’t know yet. This novel leaves a lot of open questions, I tell you.

Ziyad’s mother Nageena aunty has already spoken to Hoor e Jahan for Ziyad’s proposal. Malik already senses that Kaif has feelings for Kashmala, ans Kashmala is already comparing Ziyad and Kaif. This novel is fast paced in terms of romance. If it continues this way, Kashmala will be married to Kaif in third episode and will have kids in the fifth episode. Haha.
