Chauraha Episode 1 Written Update & Review

We see Zoya dancing in the rain (not literally dancing, but I sense her feelings. I love it when it rains, and I’m home.) Later, we learn that Zoya’s mother Shireen and aunt Naseem phupho aren’t really fond of each other. At the same time, we also see Arsal peeping from his room’s window and ogling at Zoya. Okay, so we have a stalker-slash-admirer in the neighbourhood.

The next day, Arsal offers to drop Zoya to school in his car. Zoya tells her friend that Arsal is his cousin, and that their mothers might be thinking about their marriage in future.

Alright, so our heroine is a liar.

Next, we see Shireen at a factory who talks to her manager Saleem for an advance in salary. The advance is not possible, but Saleem, the kind-hearted man that he is, offers to help Shireen until she gets her salary. Shireen politely refuses. Later, she finds her gold bangles and decides to sell them. This shows how khuddar Shireen is.

The gold bangles are worth nothing, as they are fake. This breaks Shireen, and she throws the bangles on the road. Now, she has no way but to accept Saleem’s offer.

We see Saleem at his house. His son Junaid has bundles of money with unknown source of income. Saleem also has a daughter Naila.

Shireen asks for 50,000 rupees. Why does she need this huge amount? It’s not clear yet. Since Saleem doesn’t have such a big amount, he takes money from Junaid. Why didn’t he ask where Junaid got that money? It’s beyond me.

Almost everyone has done okay for their minimal screen time. I guess after watching the next episodes, I can comment better on the performances. But I did like Mikal’s slightly rowdy body language.

The teasers show that this drama is going to be a kidnap story, full of cliches and painful to watch. Secondly, I haven’t had a good experience of Har Pal Geo dramas (except Alif), but Aehsun Talish is directing, the man who gave us Suno Chanda & Suno Chanda 2 and Mushk, so… Why not?

I’m watching this for Saba Hameed and Mikal Zulfiqar. I never liked Madiha Imam. This drama is still on a 3-episode test. If it gets too much, I will skip it.
