Drama Review | Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay | Episode 8

Tuu mujh se main dil se pareshan

Donon hain majboor

It has nothing to do with the episode review. Just a song that I’ve been humming all day.

So, the eighth episode of Hum Kahan Kay Sachhay Thay is here. It’s based on Umera Ahmed’s novel of the same title. If you’re interested in the novel’s plot. read  this post  for more details).

Hum Kahan Kay Sachhay Thay Episode 8 Written Update

This episode is all about talks to call off Mehreen’s engagement to Aswad. We see several rounds of hurtful conversation.

Mashal, Tahir, Shagufta and Nano talk to Saleha and tell her that Aswad fooled Mashal;

Saleha tells Aswad how his character is assassinated; Aswad talks to Mashal and tells her that he never flirted with her;

Mashal’s family talks to Rabeya repeatedly reminding her that they raised Mehreen;

Rabeya talks to Saleha and tells her how she was pressurized;

Saleha puts her foot down. She wouldn’t call the engagement off. She also suggests that Mehreen and Aswad should get married in a quiet and simple ceremony.

Shagufta and Tahir are out for some wedding while Mashal stays home. She tries on the bridal dress and cuts it into pieces. And then the episode ends before the big twist.

Spoiler: Mashal will commit suicide and Mehreen will be arrested.

Don’t tell me you don’t see that coming. Mashal vowed that she wouldn’t let Mehreen marry Aswad. This is her way of coming between them. Aswad will still marry Mehreen but Mashal’s death will linger in his head forever.

This episode was a little bit of merry-go-round, don’t you think? Shadi karna hai, nahin karna hai. Aswad flirted with Mashal, Aswad didn’t flirt with Mashal.

The best scene, in my opinion, the only scene that stands out in this episode is Mehreen’s confrontation with Mashal.

Don’t slap me again. I won’t tolerate it again.

That one line had pushed Mashal off the edge and she’s taking her life. What a miserable life she had. She was constantly badgered to be like Mehreen, and now Mehreen is marrying Aswad.

Tch, I don’t understand such complex people. But I know they exist IRL. I wouldn’t want to be around them, ever.

I had a question about this episode. At first, Saleha tells Aswad that Tahir is asking Mehreen (that’s too many names in one sentence) to leave his house. Saleha offers Mehreen to come to her place. Mehreen does, sans her bags (weird), and meets Rabeya. Later that night, Saleha asks Aswad to drop Mehreen home. Why? I mean… She was supposed to move in with you, no? I think she’s sent home just so she could discover Mashal’s deadbody. She has a perfect alibi, though.

Some faceoffs that would stay with you…

Mehreen to Mashal: Mere bas mein hota toh main tumhein Aswad de deti.

Saleha to Rabeya: Jo rishtey blackmailing ki buniyad par kiye jate hain unhein chor dena chahiye.

Aswad to Mehreen: yeh tum kya khel khel rahi ho?

Before you go…

Laila Wasti is stunning every time she appears, which is not often. Her wardrobe is enviable, especially the maroon salwar kameez in this episode.

As for the performance, everyone is doing a great job. Kubra had done phenomenally well as Mashal, but I must also acknowledge the gem that is Huma Nawab. Her character is shown to be a very strong woman who knows what she wants in life, and she doesn’t take shit from anyone. She is even willing to let go of her mother and brother if they aren’t happy with Aswad and Mehreen’s wedding. Love her.

Have you read the novel ? Or my review? What do you think of the story? I will meet you in another review.

  1. Yeah but this is becoming more common these days. In Sabaat, Usman Mukhtar appeared after 12 episodes I guess. In Akhir Kab Tak, Adeel Hussain is in 8th one. I think when a character comes and goes doesn’t make a lot of difference these days. What matters is what they bring to the table.

    Also in Parizaad, there are so many actors but they are only for 2-3 episodes. Some of them will come back perhaps.

    I’m just rambling now 🙂

    ohkay but see kubra is the second lead actress and it doesn’t make sense that the next 2/3 of the drama will just be aswad and mehreen and mashal’s appearance is just minimal

  3. I had thought that she will be killed halfway through but then they have a lot to show between Aswad and Mehreen so…

  4. liza says:

    tbh i feel mashal’s character is killed off too soon no ? like it’s kinda stupid that the next 20 eps or so is just gonna be mashal’s spirit haunting both of them 😂😂
