Drama Review | Sang-e-Maah | Episode 7

This episode is primarily a flashback of sorts–of how Guru Bakhsh have the poison to Marjaan to kill Nasrullah, how Hilmand loved Marjaan, how strong Hilmand and Hikmat’s bond was.

We also see how Mastan Singh lied to jirga just to save Harshali’s name, how he used religious shield to protect himself from jirga. This portrayal of Mastan Singh as Omair Rana one of his best performances, ever.

Harshali’s parents are tired of living with a burden, so they asked Mastan Singh to marry Harshali, but Mastan Singh refuses.

I like Gul Meena’s stance. She doesn’t want to elope with Hikmat, nor does he want Hikmat to stand in front of his mother or older brother. Hania Amir is so freaking good. I think the credit also goes to Saifi Hassan. The man is a chameleon. He takes various avatars and nails every single. I have watched two telefilms today and he’s just so good.

The episode ends as Sheherzade shares her sorry with her mother-in-law-to-be… I mean Zarsanga…

Zargoona and Gul Meena’s little scene in Gul Meena’s room is one of the best scenes of this episode. I say “one of” because this episode has so many. No, scratch that. Every scene of every episode is simply perfection.

Atif Aslam’s haunting voice in the background is like another character of this drama. Don’t you think?

While Pakistan has always extended support to the region at micro and macro issues, the incidents of 1971 left a scar on image of the country. Through exclusive interviews of eye witnesses, authors, politicians, war veterans and rare archival footage, the documentary series traces in-depth and first account narratives outlining the reasons as well as events leading up to the Indian sponsored rebellion in East Pakistan, with the eventual creation of an independent state of Bangladesh.
