Drama Review | Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay | Episode 10

This week was crazy, and this weekend was insane. The only respite was the much-awaited episode of Hum Kahan Kay Sachhay Thhay. Oh, by the way, Qissa Meherbano Ka is gaining quite popularity, if I look at the traffic to my blog, at least.

I watched this episode twice – once with my mom on normal speed, and then on 2X. Let me tell you one thing, there are far too many long pauses, that may have been added for dramatic effects. But it went a little overboard, I would say.

Alright, without much further ado, let’s review this episode.

Hum Kahan Kay Sachhay Thay Episode 10 Written Update

The opening scene of this episode tells us that Shabbo may have something to do with Mashal’s death. We have all heard that the makers and the writer has done some changes in the novel’s plot for screen adaptation. If Mashal hasn’t committed suicide, Shabbo has something to do with it. She sure knows a great deal more than we all do.

Khalid Malik’s annoying portrayal has gotten a redemption arc in this episode. He gives Mehreen her inhaler. And, he seems to ponder over Mehreen’s deteriorating mental state.

This episode is super dramatic and super slow. We see the family dynamics after Mashal’s death and Mehreen’s arrest. Mehreen is already losing her mind. She talks to herself, and she talks to Mashal. Her depression and hallucinations haven’t crossed the limit yet, but we know where she’s heading; we can sense where the drama is headed.

Nothing much has happened in this episode, except for a lot of background score, dramatic pauses, the OST has played quite often. I love the OST, and I love Yashal’s voice, but it was a bit much. Even my mom said that this episode was not as interesting. In my words, bahot hi lapa diye… It was elongated.

Mashal’s last line (from Mehreen’s hallucination) sums up the episode, and the reason why Mashal has committed suicide. Oh, please, don’t tell me you think that Mehreen has killed Mashal.

Dekh lo, main mar ke bhi nahin mari, and tum zinda hote huye bhi mar gayin.

That was her plan all along. And so far, she is successful, don’t you think?

Parting Thoughts

Aswad is such a wuss, pardon my language. But I’ve been telling this since I wrote the book review. He’s the bigger culprit than Mashal.

He listens from Mashal’s ears, sees from Mashal’s eyes and thinks from Mashal’s mind. Now that Mashal is gone, he is still totally under her influence. Bhai, apni do paise ki aqal laga ley? Ya phir amma ki hi baat sun ley, hain? No? Suit yourself. You will be proven wrong, and get old and regret your decisions.

Tahir has acted quite well. He looks the part, that of a distressed father looking for justice for his late daughter and injustice for someone else’s daughter.

And Huma Nawab and Laila Wasti are both phenomenal as usual.  I might not agree with the dramatization of this episode, but the performances are flawless. We’ve to give it to this drama.

Hum Kahan Kay Sachhay Thay is here. It’s based on Umera Ahmed’s novel of the same title. If you’re interested in the novel’s plot. read  this post  for more details).
