It is time to review the latest episode of Pyar Ke Sadqay, episode 21, that aired on June 11, 2020.
Abdullah takes Mahjabeen home while Sarwar watches this from upstairs. What is he cooking now? Sarwar brainwashes Abdullah again, even though Abdullah quite firmly states that he wouldn’t leave Mahjabeen.
Mahjabeen tells her family that Abdullah isn’t leaving her. Her innocent reason? Since she had cries about his philandering ways, she must clear the air. She is stupid but she sure knows how to be a good wife. If only she could control her slipping tongue.
Shanzey has lost her mind. How dare he reject me? I can understand her anger. She is raised to be a winner. So? What are her options? Suicide! Bhai waah!
And, our dude Abdullah cannot talk properly but usko dono hath mein laddu hona. He visits Shanzey at the hospital and promises that he WILL marry Shanzey. Bro, how often will you change your mind?
Our innocent bride prays to Allah for giving Shanzey and her marriage another chance. I loved that small scene – concise and to the point prayers. This girl really has a heart of gold. And, Mahjabeen’s wardrobe is to die for. Soft hues and sober styles, love her dresses.
Shanzey gets divorce and Abdullah tells Sarwar that he will manage his both wives. Yeah, right! Sarwar calls Shanzey to give her chabi : “you’re great that you are accepting his first wife.”
Now, she would fight with Abdullah to be rid of Mahjabeen.
I must say something. I just finished reviewing a drama that starting on a high note, very promising and then fell into a rut – Yeh Dil Mera. Pyar Ke Sadqay is following the same arc.
Pyar Ke Sadqay had promise to be starkly different from the trope based dramas. It had a bawli lead pair, an old woman married to a younger man; the characters were nuanced. I had expected that seemingly stupid couple would get a hold of themselves and would kick Sarwar out, just the way he deserves.
But, nah! Now, the drama has turned to “two wives” story, reminding me of Shukk (starring Sanam Saeed, Ayesha Khan, Adeel Hussain) and recently concluded Thora Sa Haq (starring Ayeza Khan, Imran Abbas, Mashal Khan).
