Book Description

FBI Agent Jake Carlisle is in deep trouble. He’s been shot and if he can’t get help fast, two lives will be lost—his and that of the young witness whom he’s sworn to protect. Desperate, on the run from both the police and the Russian Mafia, he kidnaps a nurse from a hospital parking lot.

ER nurse Samantha Edgars has been living in an emotional vacuum since the death of her daughter. Mentally and physically exhausted following a difficult shift, she’s suddenly jolted from her stupor when she’s bound and gagged, then tossed into the back of her car. Forced to tend a bleeding FBI agent and his injured witness, she’s terrified. But Samantha quickly learns the rogue agent and orphaned boy need more than just her professional skills. Danger is bearing down on them, and she must learn to trust Jake—and her heart— if they’re all going to survive.

Author Profile

USA Today Bestselling author, Suzanne discovered romance novels in her aunt’s hidden stash one summer as a teenager. From that moment on she knew two things: she loved romance stories and someday she’d be writing her own. Her love for romances has only grown over the years. It took her a number of years and a secondary career as a nurse to finally start writing her own stories.

The author of 13 novels and an Amazon best-seller for both her series, the Edgars Family Novels and the Westen series, Suzanne’s books have been finalists in the National Reader’s Choice Awards–SEIZED (2013) and VANISHED (2014). Suzanne was also a double finalist in the Romance Writers of America’s 2006 Golden Heart with her manuscripts, KIDNAPPED (Long Contemporary Category) and HUNTED (Romantic Suspense). She has also won The Beacon Unpublished and the CTRWA’s contests in the erotica categories with her book, The Surrender Of Lacy Morgan.

Currently working on more books for her Edgars Family series (KIDNAPPED, HUNTED, SEIZED, VANISHED and Capitol Danger) and the Westen Series (Close To Home, Close To The Edge, Close To The Fire, and Close To Christmas), Suzanne hopes to bring readers more passionate and suspenseful books to fill your reading moments.

Suzanne’s sexy stories, whether they are her on the edge of your seat romantic suspense or the heartwarming small town stories, will keep you thinking about her characters long after their Happy Ever After is achieved.

Review

It has very little thriller / mystery / suspense element. 80% romance novel based on “his captive” trope or in other words Stockholm syndrome.

Samantha is conveniently equipped with everything that is needed of her

  • A nurse who can fix the wounded man-boy duo
  • A grieving mother in her and can take care of Nicholas
  • A good cook who bakes yummilicious cookies and soup and sandwiches
  • She can drive really well – reverse, on ice, through country
  • And his brother has also trained her to escape from a drowning vehicle

Is there anything the woman cannot do? Nope, because ALL her skills are put to use. She has not learned one skill and hasn’t used it. Could have done with more characteristics.

To reiterate, this has very little mystery element.
