Introduction
Akbari Asghari is a 2011 Pakistani comedy drama television series based on Nazir Ahmad Dehlvi’s Mirat-ul-Uroos. Fun fact: It is also referenced in the second episode, subtle tribute to the story that was the inspiration.
Akbari Asghari is a contemporary and humourous adaptation of the novella by Faiza Iftikhar. I think she also did an adaptation of Cinderella. Let it suffice to say that Faiza likes retelling the classics. Cinderella was awful, but this one stands out.
Sanam Baloch and Humaima Malik play the titular characters, Akbari and Asghari respectively, while Fawad Khan and Imran Abbas play the male leads.
Akbari Asghari Episode 2 Written Update and Review
This episode begins as Luqmaan and Shaheen bicker with each other. Shaheen isn’t happy that her sons Akbar and Asghar (the seedhe saadhe shahzade) are engaged to Akbari and Asghari (the wilayati girls).
Akbar is teaching the kids alif baa. One of the kids, Shafeeq ur Rehman doesn’t like being addressed with his real name. He wants to be addressed as Sheeka. This shows us just how deep-rooted the problems are. People are so used to being addressed as some made-up name than their real names, and this plagues even the younger geneations.
Kim and Sush talk to each other, the typical back-handed insults.
Raj proposes to Asghari and she refuses. She likes to live her life to the fullest, but Raj thinks that Asghari is interested elsewhere.
Hatim gets a call from his father who tells about Akbar and Asghar’s proposal for Akbari and Asghari. He comes to Kulsum’s shop for celebration. Long story short, he runs into Jamnadas, Kulsum’s Gujrati boss. Hatim learns what all lies Kulsum has told about him-that Hatim is a drug addict, that Kulsoom works to support the family, and more lies.
The story just got interesting.
