Hook Episode 23 Written Update & Review

The inevitable happens in this episode.

First, we see Saleem making a  phone call to his lawyer telling that Zayan has an alibi: he was out for dinner with Sadaf when Jaafar was shot. Little does he know that it doesn’t need an alibi to free Zayan. Jaafar had already “ordered” to free Zayan. This is how the money talks. It’s so painfully true.

Zayan comes home all battered and beat up. His parents set up a date for his wedding. He is reluctant, but still asks his mother:

“Jald az jald saadgi se mera nikaah nikaah kar dein,” Zayan tells his mother.

He runs away on the day of nikaah, worrying his parents and his friends alike. He comes back later, though.  The nikaah takes place. Sadaf seems happy and worried at the same time. I liked the scene shortly after nikaah when the khaala-bhanji are talking. She looked like the perfect shy bride, talking and blushing at the same time, listening to her aunt’s words. This girl is so sweet.

Now, let’s move on to the main story. Jaafar has been shot, right. While Haya stays with Jaafar at the hospital, Amma Bi is at home, worried sick. Shaheer is already gone, Jaafar is shot; her lineage is under threat. She comes up with a master plan.

1. She reminds Maimoona of the status she holds in the house, that she must take the “khandaan” with her. Amma gives Maimoona a responsibility that she should go to “gaon”, assert her dominance and show the perpetrators that Jaafar is doing fine. This will help strengthen her relationship with Jaafar. It works, Maimoona takes the bait and goes to gaon with Wali.
2. Amma Bi’s next target is Haya. She talks quite sternly to Haya, almost giving us an impression that she HATES Haya.
3.  Resham notices Haya moving to Jaafar’s room. She is perked up to tell Maimoona about it, but Amma Bi isn’t naive.

“Whatever is happening in this mansion, nothing should reach Maimoona, no matter what!”

Amma Bi was the ultimate boss lady in these scenes. She was so smart, and the way she handled Resham, JUST AMAZING.

And finally, let’s talk about the couple now. Haya comes to Jaafar’s room, much to Jaafar’s dismay. She tries to be the “perfect wife” but Jaafar wouldn’t let her. He keeps scolding her; itna daanta hai ki kya bataun. Poor Haya goes to the kitchen and weeps. Tch!

Later that night, Jaafar develops fever. Haya springs to action, giving Jaafar meds, putting cold water compress etc… In short, this is the scene that we had been waiting for. Jaafar’s heart would melt now. FOR SURE.

The next morning, he speaks softly and thanks Haya.

“Thanks for everything!” Jaafar says.

Awnnn!

I wished this episode was longer. It was so much fun to watch Haya and Jaafar. I guess we now wait for the next week.
