Mere Ban Jao Episode 1 Written Update & Review
We meet all the characters. Azmiya is engaged to her cousin Fardeen who bosses Azmiya around and makes her dance to his tunes. Nighat has a temper and Hassan seems distant from his family.
On the other hand, Zaki is madly in love with Azmiya and clicks her pictures without her knowledge. Nadra, his sister pits herself against Zaki all the time. This sibling duo quarrel all the time.
Zaki and his mother Hajra run a ladies tailor shop. Azmiya and her bhabhi come to pick up their order which isn’t ready. Nighat humiliates Zaki and Hajra. Zaki doesn’t remain quiet. He has quiet a tongue on him. And, which son would tolerate his mother’s insult?
Fardeen has a temper, and that’s his way to control Azmiya. He calls Azmiya selfish and disconnects the call. Later, Azmiya weeps while apologizing to Fardeen. .Zaki witnesses this. Zaki and Azmiya were friends when they were kids, and he is also in love with this girl. So, he can’t see her weep.
“Don’t marry him, he’s not right for you,” Zaki tells Azmiya.
Azmiya snaps at Zaki.
Again, she tries to call Fardeen. Long story short, Fardeen forgives Azmiya on one condition–that she obeys whatever he says.
And Azmiya agrees…
The episode ends on a fade-to-black moment, but we know something distasteful has happened.

Review
The opening scene showed Nighat discussing a leaked video and Salma reprimanding her to not share such videos.
“Yeh maamlaat bade nazuk hote hain,” Salma says. “Don’t forward such videos.
sets the tone of the drama–something scandalous will happen with Azmiya, the main character and there will be a leaked video.
Zaki’s self-talk when he went to drop Azmiya was so funny. Also, Zahid has just nailed this character. His accent and huliya is so nice.
Azfar seems to be playing an extension to his Zafar in Aakhir Kab Tak. I don’t like him even when he plays good characters like the one in Angna. Playing a lewd and psychpath just makes me dislike him more. Before someone wonders why I don’t like him, here is my reason: I think he can’t act, he is too fake for the camera, and his voice and dialogue delivery seems off.
Young (and old) girls forget all religious and social boundaries when they are in love. And in this age of social media, things mess up easily. I commend that Hum TV is addressing this evil of our society, but am I thrilled to watch it on screen? Not really. I don’t like dramas with such dark theme, but I will give this a 5-episode try.
