Introduction

The story of #PyariMona revolves around the main lead Mona, an overachiever, strong and courageous girl who excels in everything she does but, being a plus-sized person, Mona has to face challenges, problems, provocations and taunts just because she doesn’t meet the conventional standards of beauty set by our society. The serial highlights body shamming, bullying, harassment and its social and mental implications on the victim in a society with unrealistic expectations from women and stringent standards of beauty. Pyari Mona is an unconventional and interesting story of Mona as she navigates through her life. Written by Haseeb Ahmed, directed by Ali Hassan and produced under the banner of Momina Duraid Productions, the serial also features Mashal Khan, Adnan Jafer, Muhammad Hunbal, Naureen Mumtaz, Uzma Baig, Shaheen Khan and others.

Pyari Mona Episode 5  Written Update and Review 

Ayan is mad at Mona for leaving without seeing her and saying goodbye. Khalid is such a cool father and such a cool grandfather.

Samia is ready to go and see a therapist. Despite her resolve, Babar doesn’t let her. 

Later, Samia and Babar talk. It is evident that Babar married Samia for her beauty and her family background. I think the drama also hints that Babar “uses” Samia for his business deals. 

Samia is clearly depressed. But nobody understands her. Neither Babar not Shaista.

Irfan’s mother kinda forces Irfan to see Hira and take her for dinner. 

At dinner, Hira tells Irfan that she’s compromising by agreeing to marry him. She also talks rubhish about Mona, perfectly being the example of “a woman is the worst enemy of a woman”. 

At the restaurant, Mona has also come with Yawar. Seeing them together is the tipping point for Ifran.

Irfan comes to Mona’s house late night and confesses that he loves her, more than as a friend. He is so understanding that he doesn’t even pressurize Mona to give an answer. The way Mona shut the door and Irfan stood on the other side, it reminded me of the most famous Rachel and Ross scene from FRIENDS.

Irfan’s mother isn’t happy about this. But Irfan seems quite confident about his decision. 

Later, Mona brings Yawar to meet Irfan. They play a skit of sorts to show that they have been engaged the day before. They are so bad at playing the skit that Ifran knows they are lying. 

Irfan convinces Mona that they will make a good couple. Will Mona agree? We will know soon.

Review 

This episode was so funny, the Lahore bits were so hilarious. Samia is depressed her and so is her track. But that wouldn’t deter me from watching it.
