Yunhi Episode 21 Written Update & Review

Assalam Alaikum,

Your favourite reviewer Shabana Mukhtar is back with the review of the latest episode of  Yunhi.

The Sibling Bond

This episode opens with Dawood, Kim and Suraiya. Dawood is trying to Suraiya that Owais isn’t the right guy for her.

Dawood: if a guy asks you to run away, he’s a coward.

Kim: what term do you have for the family who doesn’t let a woman decide for jer future.

Dawood: Narrow minded.

And that smile on their faces.

Dawood is a sensible guy, we have established that by now. He doesn’t want that Suraiya is pressurized into marrying Hamid. He is doing everything in his power to convince Dada Jaan. But we all know how adamant Dada Jaan is.

Fierce Husna

Firdaus has readied some gifts for Suraiya but Husna tells her mother that these gifts are old fashioned. She is so brutally honest. Kim is open and straightforward and everyone blames it on her “firgangi” upbringing, but Husna is just as fierce and never hesitates from speaking her mind. Nobody shames her, though. Through these two characters, Husna and Kim, the writer has done a fine job of showing us that it’s okay to raise your voice against injustice. It also shows us the  life of contractions that us desis live by. Kim is reprimanded, but Husna is not. Kahan ka insaaf hai.

Suraiya’s Change of Heart

Kim is getting calls from Owais so asks Suraiya to talk but Suraiya has learned her lesson now.

Suraiya: I won’t talk to him. Block his number.

Kim is also understanding that things are very complex. I mean, she had promised to help Suraiya marry Owais, but meeting Owais’ family has changed her opinion.

Ah, such is life!

Dawood’s Efforts

Dawood talks to Dada Jaan. Dada Jaan is very adamant and doesn’t change his decisions. In order to convince his grandfather, Dawood even says that he isn’t happy with Kim. While he might have referred to the “unhappy” part for Kim, it isn’t evident in his reply. Kim overhears the conversation and is upset. Ouch!

Later, Dawood instantly knows that Kim is upset and is hiding something. Sweet scene between them.

To Be Desi or Not to Be Desi?

Kim comes to help Iqbal but Daniyal and Raziya both are extremely rude to her. Raziya asks her to wear something appropriate. Kim is conflicted, because apparently wearing western outfits is her thing. Dawood tells Kim to wear something appropriate, he didn’t enforce his decision.

Will she make the right decision?

I don’t think so.

~

Basharat’s Loss

Basharat is worried about the loss in his godown (75% stock is burned). Dada jaan offers to sell a plot to save revive Basharat business. This scene shows us the importance of assets distribution in life verses later.

It also shows that Basharat was so worried about his own “situation” that he didn’t even say a word about Suraiya. We all know that Basharat wants to take a decision with Suraiya’s permission, but he lets that slip because of the financial loss. Such is life, isn’t it?

~

Husna & Suraiya

Husna is so sharp, she senses immediately that Suraiya isn’t happy and doesn’t want to marry Hamid.

Okay, I admit, Suraiya’s expressions say it all. It was nice of Husna to first check on Suraiya and then offer that she would have helped.

Hey, she could still help, right?

~

Mudassar’s Shrewed Plan

The initial conversation is very awkward scene as Mudassar repeatedly asks when Dawood is moving to America. Dada Jaan has already planned for a Shar’ii haq-e-maher, and the same would be followed for Husna and Daniyal (These people plan so much ahead in future, ha!)

Mudassar agrees to the maher, but Dawood has his reservations. As we have seen in two of the previous episodes, Dada Jaan kinda scoffs at Dawood.

“You may know more shariyat than us, but we know what we are doing here,” Dada Jaan says.

Could Dawood refute an argument like that? No, he can’t, so he keeps quiet.

After maher settlement, Mudassar brings his trump card. He asks that Bashsarat and family should help Hamid to be settled into USA along with a business.

Mudassar: Warna yeh rishta nahin ho sakta.

Shrewd, I told you.

That’s not all. He casually let it slip that Naveed gave 5 lakh dollars to Basharat. Oh Teri!

~

Now, we wait with batted breath about the next episode. Oh, and Kim doesn’t wear a desi outfit. I knew it.

Review

Everyone looks pretty in this episode. I am reviewing as I travel back to Pune, so I couldn’t capture as many faces as I wanted to, but they look prettyyyy.

Also, I want to note that Maha Hassan is the so terrific as Suraiya. Also kudos to Bilal Ashraf and Behroz. They are playing their characters to the T. Maya Ali is superb as Kim. It seems like she’s being herself.

That’s my take on the episode. What did you think of this episode?
