Yunhi Episode 24 Written Update & Review
Assalam Alaikum, fellow drama lovers! It’s time for another recap and review of the latest episode of “Yunhi”. This review is going to be more of a rant, because as much as I like this drama, there are few things (many things) that made me go:
Huh?
So, without much further ado, let’s get started.
Kim’s nose piercing
I know… I know… It was a very desi thing to do, and she looks pretty and all, but what is the big deal?
I mean, seriously,
WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL?
First, it was Suraiya jis ne taareefon ke tokre barsa diye Kim pe,and then it was Iqbal who was the happiest I have seen her in these 24 episodes. And best of all, our dear Sasu Maa. Raziya gives her “heerey ki laung” to Kim because… uss ne naak jo pierce karwayi hai. It got a bit too much for me, even though I’m a sucker for light moments. It almsot felt like Kim ne “khushkhabri” suna di hai.
Anywho!
On an unrelated topic, I have never ever once thought of buying a diamond. When I was young and would watch movies on DoorDarshan at my friend’s house ( a rarity) , almost all movies had something to do with “diamond necklace” or “diamond ki chori”, I had always thought: when I grow up and have a lot of money, I’m gonna buy some.
Now, I can buy it, but I don’t even feel like it. Forget diaomonds, I don’t even wear gold anymore (ever since I missed one earing somehere).
امیر ہونے کے بعد خواہشات کیوں مر جاتی ہیں؟
Dadi Ji being Dada Ji
If there is anything we have learned about Dada Ji, it’s this: he will always lean towards making a blunder and taking a wrong decision.
Kim has casually suggested that they should think about Iqbal’s future, and Basharat had “requested” that he should be allowed to take some decisions for his kids. And how does Dada Ji react?
- He taunts Basharat in front of everyone–main toh zabardasti tum logo ke faisle karta thha na. I was like, chacha, zyada nahin ho gaya yeh? You’re old and everyone loves and respects you. Don’t push it too far.
- He recalls his conversation with Naveed, or should I say ‘blackmail’? Yeah, remember that Dadi Ji asked asked Naveed to marry Iqbal in exchange for Kim and Dawood’s nikaah? I bet you had forgotten about it; I know I did. Now, he reignites the chingari.
Let more drama unfold.
Bro-chara
So, ever since Dawood slapped Daniyal, Daniya is like: main tere se baat nahin karega.
Bhai, kis baat ka ghussa hai? That Dawood defended his wife you were about to slap? This character is so selfish, it makes me want to reach out and pull his hair until he realizes what he is doing.
The couple
So, Kim has the news–that Zulfi likes Iqbal, and she also steals a letter from Iqbal. She is ready to meddle in this love story now. She tells Dawood and asks him to help. But Dawood says:
Dawood: No, can’t do baby girl
Because Dawood has one piece of information that Kim doesn’t.
Dada Ji ne Naveed uncle se Iqbal phupho ke nikaah ki baat ki hai.
While we are on the subject, let me take a moment and talk about Dawood’s reaction when he first learned about “Naveed and Iqbal” He was like:
Dawood: Naveed uncle nikaah with Iqbal phupho’s? How could that be? He’s my father-in-law, and she’s my aunt…
My first reaction was
He was talking as if it’s not allowed in Islam. Bro, you’re the most learned and most religious of them all. Aur phir iss mein harj hi kya hai?
Phew!
With that out of the way, let’s focus back on the couple. So, after a little back and forth, Dawood finally drops the bomb.
Dawood: Dada Ji ne Naveed uncle se Iqbal phupho ke nikaah ki baat ki hai.
Kim is shocked, sure, but she is also sad, remembering her mother.
She recalls how “my dad” loved my mother so much and that “my dad” was approached by women of all religions and ethinicity but “my dad” never even thought about another woman because “my dad” things that it would hurt “my mother”. That little monologue was so ladden with “my dad” and “my mom”; if I had a dollar for every time she said it, I’d be richer.
Finally, Dawood has had enough.
Dawood: Fine, I will talk to Dada Ji .
That’s my take on the episode. I know, it’s a bit unusual, but hey, I never have a fixed format of review.
What did you think of this episode?
