Pyari Mona Episode 18  Written Update and Review

The inevitable has happened; Kinza has a miscarriage. As we have seen before, this team doesn’t try to drag the scene longer (Samia’s death, Babar and Mona’s nikaah), and the news is conveyed in one line. After that, Irfan is shown talking to his mother over phone, and that’s all.

Irfan goes back to Lahore. He is so caring of Kinza. That scene was shot beautifully. Hanbal and Naureen were simply superb in that scene. I know, I am biased towards Naureen, but she was good, really.

Before goingback to Lahore, Irfan suggests that Mona should fight for her right, meet Z and ask her to backoff. I was like, how is that going to help? Shouldn’t Mona talk to Babar first? Z isn’t stealing Babar (I say that in a loose sense). It is Babar who is going away from Mona. I don’t understand the logic. What surprised me more was that Mona does listen to her friend and goes to talk to Z. Boy, what an awkward conversation that was.

~

Z and Babar continue to argue; Babar continues to be suspicious of Z and her (ex) boyfriends. While Z is still being sincere in the relationship, she doesn’t take Babar’s shit seriously. I think she is right. I mean, she might have had several boyfriends in the past, but she seems sincere now.

We see another uncomfortable and almost-cringy conversation between Shaista and Khalid. Shaista does what she is hired to do: blame things on Mona. Thankfully, Khalid is fully supportive of Mona. On the contrary, I may not agree with what this drama is trying to say. Mona is obese; she might be healthy, but her weight will eventually become a problem. I know this because it’s my personal experience. I am still trying to control my eating habits and reduce me weight.
Also, even if it wasn’t for the wordly “standards of beauty”, Mona must try to control/reduce her weight. Sayyad-ul-anbiya Mohammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam has shown his dislike for obese people. That was what promopted me to watch my weight.

Anywho, let’s come back to the show.

If there is one thing that makes this drama sweet-it’s Kinza and Mona’s relationship with Ayaan. Mona has had some success with her company, and takes Ayaan out for celebration. Babar also comes there to eat. He talks to Ayaan first, and then to Mona. Mona and Babar’s tête-à-tête was so beautifully written. Later, Babar sits at the table watching Mona and Ayaan eat. I like the scene and all, and the impact it (Mona’s affection for Ayaan) had on Babar, but couldn’t he order something and eat? Kaise un ka munh dekh raha thha. Pagal nahin toh.

Overall, I liked this episode.
