Hey there, lovely readers! 🌼
Shabana Mukhtar here, ready to chat about today’s daily prompt: Your life without a computer: what does it look like?
Contrary to popular belief, my life without a computer would be just fine (I guess). There was a time when I was forced to embark on a daring adventure—68 whole hours without a mobile device. It was like stepping into the Twilight Zone. I was so deeply affected by the torture that I recounted that spine-tingling tale, in a completely fictionalized way, of course. You can read that here: A Journey To Remember
The Mobile Misadventure
Imagine a world where I couldn’t swipe, type, or tap my way through life. It’s a world where cat videos and memes are but distant memories, and the dreaded “low battery” warning is a thing of the past. For 68 agonizing hours, I navigated this digital desert, armed only with my wits and a good old-fashioned notepad and pen.
Now, Back to Reality
But let’s get back to the point—how would my life change without a computer? First and foremost, I’d be out of a job because, you guessed it, I’m a software developer. So, goodbye to that steady paycheck and hello to pondering life’s deeper mysteries, like whether pineapple belongs on pizza (it doesn’t, by the way).
The Struggles of Mobile Writing
Writing without the glorious expanse of a computer screen? Well, let’s just say it’s like trying to paint the Mona Lisa with a toothpick. My thumbs would be in revolt, and autocorrect would become my arch-nemesis. So, adieu to my dreams of becoming the next Jane Austen, at least until I get my hands on a keyboard again.
The Blogging Blues
And as for blogging, oh, the agony! Typing out long rants, I mean blog posts on a mobile device? It’s like trying to fit an elephant into a matchbox. It’s doable, but not without a few creative contortions. So, expect shorter posts, frequent typos, and the occasional rant about the challenges of blogging on the go.
Time for Other Hobbies
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. If we consider our smartphones as computers (because, let’s be real, they totally are), I’d have to get rid of those as well. I have once experienced how my mobile addiction affects me, so now I have new outlets to spend my time. Lack of computers would give me the time to pursue my other hobbies. You know, like talking non-stop, crocheting, or even sewing my own dresses. Who knew I had such domestic goddess potential hidden beneath those layers of memes and email notifications?
Two days ago, I decided to give myself a screen break, and guess what I did? I spent that time talking to my mum and my sister—for three whole hours. Can you believe it? It’s like I rediscovered the lost art of conversation. So, all I’m saying is, if I didn’t have a computer, I’d manage just fine. In fact, I might even become a crochet-champion, dress-designer extraordinaire, and a professional talker.
Life without a computer sounds a tad challenging, but it’s not the end of the world. After all, it’s the quirky detours and unexpected conversations that make life interesting. So, whether we’re navigating the digital realm or enjoying some good old-fashioned chit-chat, there’s always an adventure waiting to unfold. Until next time, keep swiping, typing, and talking, my friends! 📱💻🗣️
