Wednesday Whimsies | Happy 25th, Google!

As the sun rises (or sets), and the world wakes up (or goes to bed), there’s one constant in my daily routine: Google.

Yes, you heard that right, Google, the trusty companion that’s been there through thick and thin. Whether it’s the middle of the night, or smack at noon, I am often reaching out to my phone or open a new tab to talk to my best buddy-Google.

Today, it’s not just any day—it’s Google’s 25th birthday! So, let’s take a moment to celebrate this digital marvel.

Now, I have a confession to make. The first thing I do after logging in to my work computer is—no, I don’t open a new tab in Google Chrome—is to open Microsoft Teams so my availability icon would turn green and the world will know that I have arrived (haha). After that, I dive headfirst into my inbox—Teams and Outlook, fishing for any urgent matters that need immediate attention.

But guess what follows?

You guessed it—opening a new tab in Google Chrome. You see, I have a perpetual list of things to research, questions to answer, and curiosities to satisfy. And Google is my ever-willing accomplice in this quest for knowledge.

But today, my usual rendezvous with Google is extra special. Why, you ask? Because it’s Google’s 25th birthday! To mark this momentous occasion, Google has adorned its homepage with a doodle that tells the story of its 25-year journey. I must admit, I’m not always up to date on Google’s history, nor am I interested. As long as it keeps answering my questions and helping me navigate the digital landscape, I’m content. But today, I took a moment to appreciate the highlights of those 25 years, thanks

Happy 25th, Google!

And here’s a poem that Google’s own AI generated

Happy Birthday, Google, our tech giant friend

You’ve been there for us until the very end

From searching for answers to finding our way

You’ve made our lives easier in every single way

So here’s to you, Google, on your special day

May your innovations continue to light the way

We’re grateful for all that you do

And we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you

Now grab a slice of cake and raise a glass

To Google, the best search engine in the class!

(And a special birthday wish from Bard

Your AI friend, who’s always on guard.
