Review

Although predictable, this drama was quite fun to binge on. I’m a sucker for older men-younger woman romances, especially if the older man is played by Adnan Siddiqui or Alyy Khan, Faisal Qureshi or the like; even though Faisal has done it so often that the novelty has worn off. Alyy, on the other hand, was perfect as Shah Mir Afandi. In the first few episodes, he seemed a bit more stiff and his delivery seemed a bit forced, but he loosened up later on.

Yumna is her charming self, but you can see that her craft isn’t as polished as it is now. Shamim Hilaly is endearing mother as always, even though her character isn’t consistent-sweet at times and bitter at other, I never knew what this old woman has in mind. Zainab Jameel as angry and jealous older sister played her role with so much conviction, you’d want to scratch her eyes right out.

Ayesha Toor is known to play elite women role, mostly dark, but she was adorable in this one as Safeena. Even though she has hots for Shah Mir, she never shies away from giving advice to bring Shah Mir closer to Kaneez. Arzoo’s anger issues later create quite some havoc in Kaneez’s life which makes for an interesting watch.

At 3X speed, I tend to ignore the flaws if there are any. The one thing that stuck out as a sore thumb was how Parniyan and Kaneez almost looked the same age. Parniyan was supposed to be 12; they could have hired a younger girl for the role.

Overall, these 26 episodes in one night wasn’t that bad.
