Zard Patton Ka Bunn Episode 2 Written Review and Update

Meenu’s Celebration

Alrighty, so the news of Meenu topping the district has spread like a wild-fire to every nook and corner of the village. We meet several important characters, each with a surprisingly fresh intro, receiving the news, their utterly shocked reactions a delight to watch.

  1. Meenu’s brothers, all struggling to make ends meet in their respective lives, are shocked to hear this.
  2. Meenu’s family, otherwise, and whole village is celebrating. Correction: Meenu, Bhura Ustad and Ameer’s wife are celebrating while everyone else watches, espcially Meenu’s brothers.

Markaz-e-Behbood-e-Aabadi

We also see a lnegthy scene at Markaz-e-Behbood-e-Aabadi (Population Welfare Centre). The guests are lecturing a few old men but to their surprise, and ours, Maluvi Yusuf brings the youth of the village to listen to the lecture. This whole summary might sound dull, but it was so entertaining to watch with subtle humour sprinkled throughout.

Meenu’s Family

Meenu’s brothers aren’t too happy with Meenu’s success. Just look at them, sulking. Mulku, angered but the celebration, slices the dhol, bringing the celebration to a screeching halt.

Mulku: Allah ne juma ka din naach gaane ke liye nahin banaya hai.

And I was like:

Ye masaail-e-tasawwuf ye tera bayaan ‘Ghalib’

Tujhe hum wali samajhte jo na badakhwar hota

The dude is a seasonal prisoner. Aur baatein suno uski.

Later that night, the four brothers request Bhura Ustad to marry off Meenu instead of encouraging her to study further. Bhura Ustad agrees. I know what you’re thinking. Too good to be true.

Bhura Ustad: I’ve no money. The four of you will have to arrange 50 thousand each.

And all four of them leave one after the other, for taking medicines, remembering some urgent work, or thinking that their father needs to rest. Hilarious!

Meenu’s Plan

We also learn that Maulvi Yusuf treats Meenu like his own daughter. Sweet scene between them. Meenu also meets her old friend, forgot her name, and shares her ambition.

Meenu: College jaungi, aur uske baad medical ki padhayi…

Aha! Mrs and Mr Doctor Nofil 🙂

The City

Imran, the dude who lost his wife (abhi tak uska naam nahin reveal hua hai), takes Dr Bofil to the grave of his wife, demanding justice.

Imran: Juwari hoon. Ankhon mein dekh ke bande ke dil ka haal samajh leta hoon.

He had noticed that Dr Nofil wasn’t too happy when Imran was taken away by the police. And he smells fish. The trip to Qabrastan is a disguised plea for justice. Bas phir, Dr Nofil gets to work. We see his family, sweetest Mohammad Ahmad Saheb as the most understanding father ever. Soon, Nofil finds out that the death was caused by negligence, overdose of some medication. I ain’t a doctor and I didn’t hear the name properly, so I wouldn’t be including the details here.

Long story short, he gets hold of the OT notes, confirms with Dr Malaika, and confronts Dr Sidra and his i-own-this-hospital husband. The duo shamelessly deny Nofil’s allegations and smartly turn the situation around, framing Malaika and Nofil along the way.

What would Nofil do? I guess it’s obvious. He would either quit, or be fired, my bet on the latter. And he would then join as a doctor in a distant village of Kaisar Klan.

Review

Another intriguing episode with just enough humour and drama to make us come back. Yes, I have a strong feeling I would be watching the next episode.
