Sirf Shabana presents the story of an educated, independent yet deeply sensitive young woman who longs for a simple but powerful right: to have her own name stand alone, without being defined by a father or a husband. Her journey unfolds as a courageous fight against societal norms, legal barriers, and emotional struggles, as she strives to claim an identity that truly belongs to her.

Sirf Shabana Episode 9 Written Update and Review
I did not like this episode very much.
With that, let’s quickly recap.
Bilal Ahmad!!!
Shabana gave Mannu some money to open his own bakery, right? And she gave Bilal 3 lakhs for… She doesn’t take the money back. And this gives, Bilal and Mannu a chance to bond. Mannu is not able to find a good shop for his bakery. Bilal suggests that Mannu can use the paan shop, without rent, and they can split up the profit. I guess he’s trying to be kind to someone because Shabana indirectly taught him that. Nice, waise bhi seeing Bilal is one thing that would keep this drama interesting.
On side note, I also liked how he confronted a nosy neighbour and sternly told him off:
Mera naam Bilal Ahmad hai, Bilal Ahmad!!!
Shabana’s Quest
She goes out, looks for Salaat, finds him, misses him by a whisker. I guess she deserves closure. While she’s out, at one point, she’s right outside Kabeer’s office (she doesn’t know that, of course) and he sees her.
Again, on a side note, I liked that Kabeer’s work related scene wasn’t vague like: call the client, setup a meeting. He spoke concretely about designs, colours, why the given design is not working.
Kabeer and Shabana
Kabeer is being the kindest person ever. He brings home some food, and asks about Shabana’s phone (which he lent her earlier, I may have forgotten to mention that). It’s not working. While he offers to help, suddenly, Shabana flips. Main akeli hoon toh…
And Kabeer flips as well. For some reason, I ejjoyed that very much. Both are like very polite, soft-spoken and then they show their true self and lose their temper. Reminds me of someone I know very well. No, it’s not me. It’s NOT ME.
And their argument is interrupted by Dilnawaz’s call.
Dadi Sick, For Real
It felt funny. So, she really is sick. I remmeber, in the first episode, when Kabeer had rushed home to find Dadi fit-n-fine, he said: Kisi din sach mein hoga.
Aur ho gaya.
Tauqeer is there. And this father-son duo doesn’t hesitate from arguing in the hospital, either. Tauqeer responds to Shabana, though, when she asks. So it’s like: I have a problem only with Kabeer. I liked how he stood up when he noticed Shabana. Aly is looking so handsome, and I think it’s unfair for Adeel. He’s a nice fella, but abba ke saamne pheeka lagta hai.
Long story short, Shabana meets Dadi, lies about why she’s there.
(Why lie?)
A moment later, Kabeer comes in and the lies are out in the open. Kabeer lies about how he knows Shabana.
(Why lie?)
And then Dadi is… you like her, you love her… Kya hai yeh sab, Dadi?
Review
Coming back to my opening statement: I did not like this episode very much.
The plot has completely shifted from the title: Sirf Shabana. Shabana wanted to get rid of her father’s name, right? Where are we on that? Now, it has become about shaadi, and new city, and finding Salaar. I understand, it’s still all relevant, and Shabana probably has no backing of Murtaza for her request to be sirf Shabana. But it feels off.
I can’t end this post without ranting about dadi. This dadi is…well… kinda… I don’t want to say the word that just popped up in my mind. She isn’t respecting her stature as dadi, is all I’m saying. She was so unwell, and she pried about Shabana’s presence at the hospital. She doesn’t know Shabana’s wedding is off, and still teasing Kabeer about Shabana. Kya aurat hai bhai yeh?
But I still felt that I could finish watching this drama, so we’re drafting posts upto 30 episodes. Fingers crossed.
