Sirf Shabana Episode 16 Written Update and Review

Assalamualaikum!!!
Alright, here I am, with the R’s for episode 16 of Sirf Shabana: recap, review and rambling.
In the last episode we saw that Shabana met Yumna and kind of help her with her motivational speech. she reminds Yumna of the law degree that Yumna has, and also requests to fight her case. When Shabana is leaving, she runs into Salaar who does not hesitate from insulting Shabana. does Shabana take it quietly?
Obviously not.
This is what she has to say:
یہ جو تالیوں کی گونج تمہارے آس پاس ہوتی ہے نا؟ کسی دن تالیوں کے بیچ تمہارا چہرہ آ جائے گا اور آواز زور سے آئے گی۔
I clapped on that line. Mazaa hi aa gaya.
Dadi, Kabeer and Shabana
Dadi’s surgery is done and she is recovering but her condition is still not very good or promising. Kabeer has come to his apartment for getting some stuff. Shabana gets him tea which was very kind on her part because tea is that one thing that gets through life especially after a day at hospital. I am not joking.
They get to talking and both show their apprehension about the dadi, hee medicals condition and the promise they made to dadi of marrying each other.
Bilal to Karachi?
Remember Saadi? The guy who put Bilal on the map? Even though Bilal has given interviews to many other channels, he does call Saadi and seek his permissions for giving more interviews. Saadi is pleasantly surprised by this politeness and suggest that the Bilal should come to Karachi. Long story short Bilal is packing bag to go to Karachi.
In one of the previous episodes, I had mention how Nusrat would see Bilal busy at the pan shop but he will never appreciate Bilal and that they are not the kind to hug each other. I was proved wrong in this episode and I am happy about it. Nusrat has asked Jamal to arrange for Bilal’s accommodation etc. Bano is very very emotional but Nusrat seems alright. He shakes hands with Bilal like it’s a business deal.
And then he hugs Bilal.
Bilal is so shocked, he turns to Bano first, as if saying, “Amma, look, Abba is hugging me” before properly hugging Nusrat.
One of the best scenes of this episode.
The case
Yumna has taken Shabana’s case (wahi, she wants to drop her father’s name from her documents). We still don’t know her father’s name. The conversation very smartly does exposition of what happened to Shabana and her mother after father abandoned them. Yumna honestly tells that the case is quite difficult to win, and mentally prepares Shabana for the worse. Very nice scene. Nimra and Sohai, both gave perfect scene.
Kabeer and Shabana, again
زندگی بہت بڑی استاد ہے پہلے امتحان لیتی ہے پھر سبق۔ سکھاتی ہے اور پھر اگلے امتحان کے لیے بھیج دیتی ہے
Golden words by Shabana.
Yet again, very smartly, there’s more exposition about Shabana and her father. Listening to that, Kabeer admits that his problems with his father are nothing in comparison. Shabana lightly suggests that Kabeer makes up for it. Kabeer is kinda in awe of Shabana at this point.
This was a callback to what Kabeer said earlier. And this was the third good scene of this episode. Also, Adeel literally blushed so must mention kudos to Adeel Hussain.
The most important scene, however, was Tauqeer and dadi. Dadi wants Tauqeer to accept Shabana and Kabeer. He has his reasons to doubt Shabana and her intentions. Here’s what happened (think Monk): Mehr, Kabeer’s mother thought Tauqeer is good for nothing and left Tauqeer for someone else. It wasn’t clear if they married or not or did Mehr leave even before marrying Tauqeer. From the flashback scene, I think I can conclude that Kabeer is not Tauqeer’s son.
Now that I have typed it all, I think Tauqeer said something like: “usko apna naam diya”… I will double check on that but this is what it is. He thinks Shabana will be the same.
This was a fine episode. A lot of good scenes, good lines and good performances. I ignored dadi, that made things easier.
How did you like this episode? (Or this review?)
