Zanjeerain Episode 17 Written Update and Review
SPOILERS AHEAD! Stop now or don’t come back to tell me that I spoiled things for you.
The Fight
Okay, so we begin where we left, Bano trying to convince Sar Buland to leave everything to Sohrab Khan and move to the city, and a part of my brain was like: she’s in on it, she’s in on it, it’s part of the plan.
But then… she tries too hard, and Sar Buland Khan snaps.
Sar Buland: I can’t do what you are asking me to do. I promised thousands of people, I need to bring justice to whoever killed (Sherdil and Magul).
Then Bano gives a little speech of how important self-respect is for her because she’s also a heir of Khans’.
Sherbano: Sardar Sar Buland Khan, aaj ke baad Sherbano Afrasiyab Khan aap se kuch nahin mange gi.
The Curiosity
Upset, she storms off. She sees something outside, and follows: a dark, shady place, and then she hears two familiar voices saying things that stun her and us viewers alike.
Yes, it’s Sohrab and Shirin who are behind everything. Zargoon guy is also in on it.

Zargoon to Sohrab is like Gul Zaman and Alamdar Khan are flow Sar Buland Khan.

And she decided to confront.
The confrontation was mostly okay, but the first few sentences Sahar Hashmi says through gritted teeth and I was like, munh thik se khol kar bol na bahen. She still needs to improve her lines, but her outburst was very well-done. The way she spat at her own brother, twice.
And then comes the “pistol holding” scene: she’s holding a gun on her brother. Brother “conveniently” tries to take the gun from her and bamm… Curiosity really did kill the cat.
I like that Sherbano’s last claim of “I’ll never ask anything of you again” was true, but I bet nobody saw it coming, I know I didn’t. I mean, we all knew it’s about to happen, but not in these circumstances.
Sar Buland was restless in his sleep, wakes up to the sound of azaan. And the camera pans out to show this.
We see Bibijaan reciting Quran, reading tasbeeh. The symbolic breaking of the string… the family has fallen apart.

The Grief
Sohrab Khan is now grieving what has happened.

Zargoon comes to bring Sohrab back. This visual reminded me of Bahubali somehow, when Katappa kills Bahubali at the end of part 1, rememeber?

The Search
Now, everyone’s looking. Sohrab pretends that he knows nothing, Shirin is also “searching” for Bano. We, as audience know what has happened but not how they disposed off the body, and how they have planted a trail to lead to Sherbano. So in all, we are all curious. Suspense at its best!
Did you notice the way Sar Buland looks at Sohrab when Sherbano’s earing was first found.

And then her dupatta is found after five minutes of drone shots capturing the beauty of that area.
