Dear Diary | 1447 AH | Day 352

Why Dated Diaries Aren’t For Me?

I am a hoarder.

I like buying things, and I like not using things once I’ve bought them. Diaries and notebooks, are two of my favourite things to collect and just keep ’em locked in my drawer. I do use some of notebooks, of course, because I love making lists and striking things out, gives me a sense of achievement. Some days, I can’t do much work until I have a list in front of me.

Since 2023, I got into a habit of buying new diaries and ACTUALLY using them. I failed, miserably. My “dear diary” moments are either too short, like a paragraph or two, or too long, like 3-4 pages. 2023, 2024, 2025, and now 2026… I fail to fill these diaries. I therefore conclude that dated diaries don’t work for me. I need seemingly endless pages, at least a guarantee that I’m not restricted to write one page and just stop.

Ab yeh socha hai ki online diary likhungi
Taki ghabraun to likh bhi sakooN, padh bhi sakooN

That’s my pun on:

Ab yeh socha hai ki pathhar ke sanam poojunga
Taki ghabraun to takra bhi sakooN, mar bhi sakooN

Let’s see how long I survive this new fad.
