Zanjeerain Episode 39 Written Update and Review

Amjad Islam Amjad’s poem’s second part comes back in this episode when Sar Buland Khan meets Rabiya at her shop. Rabiya’s reason for not being with Sar Buland is so lame, so lame, it takes away a LOT from this otherwise very nice drama.

umr-bhar kī bāteñ kab do-ghaḌī meñ hotī haiñ

dard ke samundar meñ
an-ginat jazīre haiñ be-shumār motī haiñ

aañkh ke darīche meñ tum ne jo sajāyā thā
baat us diye kī hai

baat us gile kī hai
jo lahū kī ḳhalvat meñ chor ban ke aatā hai

lafz kī fasīloñ par TuuT TuuT jaatā hai
zindagī se lambī hai baat ratjage kī hai

rāste meñ kaise ho
baat taḳhliye kī hai

taḳhliye kī bātoñ meñ guftugū izāfī hai
pyaar karne vāloñ ko ik nigāh kaafī hai

ho sake to sun jaao ek roz akele meñ
tum se kyā kaheñ jānāñ is qadar jhamele haiñ

The recitation of this poem and Danny Z’s performance in this scene was the best part of this episode. The rest of it was just meh, quite underwhelming for a finale.

Chalo, next week, nayi story.

Salaam!
