Mitti De Baway Episode 8 Written Update and Review

I was so impressed by this episode that I postponed drafting the review for a while. “A while” turning into two days. And now that I’m finally ready, my blog isn’t coming up. Ever since I moved from wordpress, this is the third outage, and I am not happy with it.

When and how will I be able to post this, is beyond me. I’m in no mood to sit and troubleshoot why my wordpress site isn’t up. And that bitter taste my mouth also makes me just shorten this post.

So, remember Bhajja asked/ordered Baala to leave Joji and Aslam to his akhaada? Was it second episode? Bhajja essentially asked Baala to allow his two dear younger siblings to become goons. Baala’s expressions had said it all: ain’t gonna happen. And to complete the irony, it’s Baala himself who succumbs to the circumstances and has to accept everything that Bhajja suggests.

In my review for previous episode, I said repeatedly, that Bhajja is too good to be true and it didn’t sit right, right? Today, we see how and why. Bhajja leaves Baala alone and away from his family, essentially a qaidi, a prisoner of poisonous thoughts. Bhajja goes to Umrah, comes back pretending to be all pious and all, refuses to talk straight with Baala who’s visibly fuming (nice acting on Wahaj’s part and very nice writing) and leaves Baala no option but to become a goon for Bhajja.

On the other hand, Baala’s family is suffering, grieving, arguing…

The episode ends with Baala’s transformation. The little montage of showing artwork of these characters as dolls of clay was soooooooooo good. A bit out of place for the narrative but it was visually very appealing.

At the end, I must repeat what I feel about this drama: Nicely written story, beautifully executed and very fine and nuances performances but then… it’s not the kind of story that I’m comfortable watching. The predictablility and repetitiveness of the story only makes it less intriguing and more bleh.

So, that’s that.

P.S. This is three hours after the draft and after two frustratingly long hours of troubleshooting. My blog is up now, but I have more hours of work.
