Pakistani Dramas and I | Life During Our “Time Apart”

So we’ve talked about the breakup.

Now, what did I do when I wasn’t watching Pakistani dramas? Did I give up YouTube altogether?

Of course not — don’t be silly.

After losing a loved one, my mind had this constant background noise I didn’t quite know how to silence. I needed something to fill the gaps, and YouTube happily volunteered. So I’d scroll for hours, half-watching, half-dissociating — occasionally stumbling upon something interesting and then binge-watching it like it was the most important discovery of my life.

<Here I’ll be listing my 2025 binge phases — the good, the weird, and the mildly embarrassing>

Somewhere toward the end of 2025, it hit me — I wasn’t doing better. In fact, I was getting worse.

My screen time had gone up, not down. I was watching content that irritated me, upset me, or simply wasn’t aligned with what I’m usually comfortable watching. And yes, sometimes it veered into more vulgar territory than I prefer — all because it autoplayed and my brain didn’t have the energy to say no.

So a thought crossed my mind:

If I’m going to watch something anyway… why not Pakistani dramas?

You know how I am. Once an idea gets into my head, I can’t shake it off quickly. So, I let it ruminate a little…

Tik tok tik tok…

…to be continued.
