Disclaimer
This book is transliteration of Umera Ahmed’s masterpiece Peer-e-Kaamil WITHOUT HER PERMISSION.
This is only for those readers who understand Urdu but can’t read it. On Goodreads, some people asked meabout Roman transliteration of Peer-e-Kamil. I couldn’t find it, so I made a mental note to try and make it available to others for free when I get time. Then I forgot about it because I never get time.
And this morning, I got this book. Some kind soul had enough time to transliterate, print, and spiral bind and bring it home.
Anyone interested in reading the roman version can borrow from me.
And those online can read it here.
P.S. This is NOT English translation. If you want that, it’s available on Amazon.
Wo Multan chali aayi, ye uske liye zindagi ke ek naye daur ka aaghaz tha. Ek mushkil aur takleef dah daur. Wo hostel mein reh rahi thi aur wo ajeeb zindagi thi. Baaz dafa use Islamabad mein apna ghar aur khandaan ke log itni shiddat se yaad aate theke uska dil chahta wo bhaag kar unke paas chali jaaye. Baaz dafa wo baghair kisi wajah ke roney lagti. Baaz dafa uska dil chahta ke wo Jalaal Ansar se raabta karey. Use wo bey tahaasha yaad aata. Wo BSc kar rahi thi aur uske sath BSc karne wali ladkiyan wahi thin jo FSC mein merit list par nahin aa saki thin aur ab wo BSc karne ke baad medical college mein jaane ki khwaahish mand thin.
“Medical college…….. doctor.” Uske liye bahot arsey tak ye donon alfaaz nashtar bane rahe. Kai baar wo apne hath ki lakiron ko dekh kar hairaan hoti rehti. Aakhir waha kya tha jo har cheez ko mutthi ki ret bana raha tha.kai baar use Jaweriya se ki jaane wali apni baatein yaad aatin.
“Main agar doctor nahin ban saki to main to zinda hi nahin reh sakungi. Main mar jaaungi.”
Wo hairaan hoti, wo mari to nahin thi. usi tarah zinda thi.
“Pakistan ki sab se mash’hoor eye specialist?”
Sab kuch ek khwaab hi raha tha ………. Wo har cheez ke itne paas thi, wo har cheez se itna dur thi.
Uske paas ghar nahin tha.
Uske paas ghar waale nahin the.
Uske paas Asjad nahin tha.
Medical ki taalim nahin thi.
Jalaal bhi nahin tha.
Wo zindagi ki un aasaaishon se ek hi jhatkey mein mehroom ho gayi thi jin ki wo aadi thi aur uske bawajood zinda thi. Imama ko kabhi andaaza nahin tha ke wo is qadr bahadur thi ya kabhi ho sakti thi, magar ho gayi thi.
Waqt guzarney ke sath sath uski takleef mein kami hona shuru ho gayi thi. yun jaise use sabr aa raha tha. Allah ke baad shayad zameen par Dr Sabt the jin ki wajah se wo aahista aahista sambhalney lagi thi.
Mahiney mein ek baar weekend par wo unke paas Lahore aati. Wo waqtan fawaqtan use hostel phone karte rehte, use kuch na kuch bhijwatey rehte. Unki betiyanaur biwi bhi uska bahot khayaal rakhte the. Wo unke nazdeek unke ghar ka ek fard ban chuki thi. agar ye log na hote to mera kya hota? Wo kai baar sochti.
