This book is transliteration of Umera Ahmed’s masterpiece Peer-e-Kaamil WITHOUT HER PERMISSION.
This is only for those readers who understand Urdu but can’t read it. On Goodreads, some people asked meabout Roman transliteration of Peer-e-Kamil. I couldn’t find it, so I made a mental note to try and make it available to others for free when I get time. Then I forgot about it because I never get time.
And this morning, I got this book. Some kind soul had enough time to transliterate, print, and spiral bind and bring it home.
Anyone interested in reading the roman version can borrow from me.

“Tum pichle kuch dino se bahot pareshan ho, koi problem hai?” Waseem ne us raat Imama se pucha. Wo pichle kuch din se bahot zyada khamoosh aur uljhi uljhi nazar aa rahi thi.
“Nahin aisi to koi baat nahin hai, tumhara wahem hai.”Imama ne muskurane ki koshish ki.
“Khair, wahem to nahin. Koi na koi baat hai zaroor. Tum batana nahin chahtin to aur baat hai.” Waseem ne sar jhatakte hue kaha. Wo Imama ke double bed par usse kuch faasle par leta hua tha aur wo apni file mein rakhe notes ulat palat kar rahi thi. Waseem kuch der uske jawab ka intezaar karta raha phir usne ek baar phir use mukhatab kiya.
“Main ne theek kaha na, tum batana chahtin?”
“Haan main filhaal batana nahin chahti.”Imama ne ek gehra saans le kar aitraaf kiya.
“Bata do, ho sakta hai main tumhari madad kar sakoon.” Waseem ne use uksaya.
“Waseem! Main khud tumhein bata dungi magar filhaal nahin aur agar mujhe madad ki zarurat hogi to main khud tum se kahungi.” Usne apni file band karte hue kaha.
“Theek hai jaisi tumhari marzi, main to sirf tumhari madad karna chahta hoon.” Wo bed se uth gaya.
Waseem ka andaaza bilkul theek tha. Wo waqai Jaweriya ke sath us din hone wale jhagde ke baad se pareshaan thi. Agarche Jaweriya ne agle din usse maazrat kar li thi magar uski uljhan aur izteraab mein koi kami nahin aayi thi. Jaweriya ki baaton ne use bahot pareshaan kar diya tha. Ek dedh saal pehle Tehreem ke sath hone wala jhagda use ek baar phir yaad aane laga tha aur uske sath hi apne mazhab ke bare mein ubharne wale sawaalaat aur uljhanein bhi jo usne apne mazhab ka tafseeli mutala’a karne ke baad apne zahen mein mehsoos ki thin. Jaweriya ne kaha tha. “Meri zindagi ki sab se badi khwahish ye hai ke kaash tum musalman hotin.”
“Musalman hoti?” Wo ajeeb si be-yaqeeni mein mubtala ho gayi thi. “Kya main musalman nahin hoon?” Kya meri behtreen dost bhi mujhe musalman nahin manti? Kya ye sab kuch sirf ek propaganda ki wajah se hai jo hamare bare mein kiya jata hai? Aakhir hamare hi bare mein kyun ye sab kuch kaha jata hai? Kya ham log waqai koi ghalat kaam kar rahe hain? Kisi ghalat aqeede ko ikhteyaar kar baithe hain? Magar ye kaise ho sakta hai? Aakhir mere ghar wale aisa kyun karenge aur phir hamari saari community aisa kyun karegi? Aur shayad ye in sawalon se nijaat pane ki ek koshish thi ke ek hafte baad usne ek bahot bade aalim-e-deen ki Quran paak ki tafseer kharidi. Wo janna chahti thi ke un ke barey mein dusre fareeq ka moqif kya hai. Quran paak ka tarjuma wo usse pehle bhi padhti rahi thi magar wo tehreef shudah haalat mein tha. Use isse pehle is baat ka yaqeen nahin tha ke jo Quran paak wo padhte hain usmein kuch jaghon par kuch tabdeeliyan ki gayi hain magar us mash’hoor aalim-e-deen ki tafseer padhne ke dauraan use un tabdeeliyon ke bare mein maloom ho gaya jo unke apne Quran mein maujood thin. Usne yake baad deegre mukhtalif firqon ke adaaron se shaya hone wale Quran paak ke nuskhon ko dekha. Unmein se kis mein bhi wo tabdeeliyaan nahin thin jo khud unke Quran mein maujood thin, jab ke mukhtalif firqon ki tafaseer mein bahot zyada farq tha. joon joon wo apne mazhab aur Islam ka taqabuli mutala’a kar rahi thi uski pareshani mein izafah ho raha tha. Har tafseer mein aakhri nabi Paighambar-e-Islam ﷺ ko hi thehraya gaya tha. Kahin bhi kisi zilli ya ummati nabi hone ka dhaka chupa ishara bhi maujood nahin tha. Maseeh-e-mau’ood ki haqeeqat bhi uske samne aa gayi thi. Apne mazhabi rehnumaaon ki jhooti pesh goiyon mein aur haqeeqat mein hone wale waqe’aat ka tazaad use aur bhi zyada chubhne laga tha. Uske mazhabi rehnuma ne nubuwwat ka daawa karne se pehle jin paighambar ke barey mein sab se zyada ghair muhazzab zabaan istemal ki thi wo khud hazrat Isa Alaihissalaam hi the aur baad me nubuwwat ka jhoota daawa karne se pehle ye bhi kaha tha ke hazrat Isa Alaihissalaam ki rooh ka hulool uske andar ho gaya hai aur agar is daawe ki sachai ko maan bhi liya jata to hazrat Isa Alaihissalaam apne dobara nuzool ke baad 40 saal tak zinda rehte aur phir jab unka inteqaal hota to Islam puri duniya par ghalba paa chuka hota. Magar in rehnuma ki wafaat ke waqt duniya mein Islam ka ghalba to ek taraf, khud Hindustaan mein musalman aazadi jaisi nemat ke liye taras rahe the. Imama ko apne mazhabi rehnuma ke guftgu ke is andaaz par bhi tajjub hota jo usne apni mukhtalif kitabon mein apne mukhalifeen ya dusre ambiya-e-karaam ke liye ikhteyaar kiya tha. Kya koi nabi is tarah ki zaban istemaal kar sakta tha jis tarah ki us nubuwwat ke dawa karne wale ni ki thi?
Bahot ghair mehsoos tareeqe se uska dil apne mazhabi literature aur muqaddas kitabon se uchaat hone laga tha. Pehle jaisa aiteqaad aur yaqeen to ek taraf, use sirey se unki sadaqat par shubah hone laga tha. Usne Jaweriya se ye zikr nahin kiya tha ke wo ab apne mazhab se hat kar dusri kitabon ko padhne lagi thi. Uske ghar mein kisi ko ye andaza nahin hua ke wo kis qism ki kitaben ghar laa kar padh rahi thi. Usne unhein apne kamre mein bahot hifazat se chupa kar rakha hua tha. Sirf ek din aisa hua ke Waseem us ke kamre mein aa kar uski kitabon mein se koi kitaab dhundhne laga. Waseem ke hath sab se pehle Quran paak ki wahi tafseer lagi aur wo jaise dam bakhud reh gaya.
“Ye kya hai Imama?” Usne mud kar tajjub se pucha. Imama ne sar utha kar dekha aur dhak se reh gayi.
“Ye……..Ye………..Ye Quran paak ki tafseer hai.” Usne yak dam apni zabaan mein hone wali ladkhadahat par qaboo paate hue kaha.
“Main jaanta hoon magar ye yahan kya kar rahi hai? Kya tum ise khareed kar layi ho?” Waseem ne badi sanjeedgi se pucha.
“Haan main ise khareed kar layi hoon. Magar tum itne pareshaan kyun ho rahe ho.”
“Baba ko pata chalega to wo kitna ghussa karenge tumhein andaza hai?”
“Haan mujhe andaza hai. Par mujhe ye koi itni qabil-e-aitraaz baat nazar nahin aati.”
“Aakhir tumhein is kitaab ki zaroorat kyun padi?” Usne kitaab wahin rakh di.
“Kyun ke main janna chahti hoon ke dusre aqaaid ke log aakhir Quran paak ki kya tafseer kar rahe hain. Hamare barey mein, Quran ke hawale se unka nuqta-e-nazar kya hai.”Imama ne sanjeedgi se kaha.
Waseem palkein jhapkaye baghair use dekhta raha.
“Tumhara dimagh theek hai?”
“Mera dimagh bilkul theek hai.”Imama ne pur sukoon andaaz mein kaha. “Kya burayi hai. Agar main dusre mazahib ke barey mein jaanun aur unke Quran pak ki tafseer padhun.”
“Hamein iski zaroorat nahin hai.” Waseem ne narazi se kaha.
“Tumhein zaroorat nahin hogi, mujhe hai.”Imama ne do tok andaz mein kaha. “Main aankein band kar ke kisi bhi cheez par yaqeen karne ki qayal nahin hoon.” Usne wazeh alfaz mein kaha.
“To ye tafseer padh kar tumhare shubhaat door ho gaye hain?” Waseem ne tanziya lehje mein pucha.
“Pehle mujhe apne aiteqaad ke barey mein shubah nahin tha, ab hai.”
Waseem uski baat par bhadak utha. “Dekha, is tarah ki kitabein padhne se yahi hota hai. Main isi liye tum se keh raha hoon ke tumhein is tarah ki kitabein padhne ki koi zaroorat nahin hai. Hamare liye hamari apni kitabein kaafi hain.”
“Main ne itni tafaseer dekhi hain, Quran paak ke itne tarjume dekhe hain, hairani ki baat hai Waseem! Kahin bhi hamare nabi ka zikr nahin hai. Har tafseer mein Ahmad se muraad Muhammad ﷺ ko hi liya jata hai hamare nabi ko nahin, aur agar kahin hamare nabi ka zikr hai bhi to nubuwwat ke ek jhoote dawedaar ke taur par.”Imama ne uljhe hue andaaz mein kaha.
“Ye log hamare barey mein aisi batein nahin karenge to aur kaun karega. Hamare nabi ki nubuwwat ko maan lenge to hamara aur inka to ekhtelaaf hi khatm ho jayega. Ye kabhi apni tafaseer mein sach nahin shaya karenge.” Waseem ne talkhi se kaha.
“Aur jo hamari tafseer hai, kya ham ne sach likha hai ismein?”
“Kya matlab?” Waseem thithka.
“Hamare nabi dusre paighambaron ke barey mein ghalat zabaan kyun istemaal karte hain?”
“Wo un logon ke barey mein apni baat karte hain jo un par imaan nahin laye.” Waseem ne kaha.
“Jo imaan nahin laye kya use galiyan deni chahiye?”
“Haan ghusse ke izhaar to kisi na kisi soorat mein hota hai.” Waseem ne kaandhe jhatakte hue kaha.
“Ghusse ka izhaar ya be basi ka?”Imama ke jumle par wo dam bakhud use dekhne laga.
“Jab hazrat Isa Alaihissalaam par log imaan nahin laye to unhon ne logon ko gaaliyan to nahin di. Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ par log imaan nahin laye the to unhon ne kisi ko gaaliyan nahin din. Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ ne to un logon ke liye bhi dua ki jinhon ne unhein patthar maare, jo wahi Quran paak ki surat mein Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ par naazil hui hai usmein koi gaali nahin milti aur jis majmue ko hamare nabi apne upar naazil shudah sahifa kehte hain wo gaaliyon se bhara hua hai.”
“Imama! Har insaan ka mizaaj dusre se mukhtalif hota hai, har insaan alag tarah se react karta hai.” Waseem ne tezi se kaha. Imama ne qayal na hone wale andaaz mein sar hilaya.
“Main har insaan ki baat nahin kar rahin hoon, main nabi ki baat kar rahi hoon. Jo shakhs apne ghusse par qaboo nahin rakh sakta wo nubuwwat ka dawa kaise kar sakta hai? Jis shakhs ki zabaan se gaaliyan nikalti hon uski zabaan se haq-o-sadaqat ki baat nikal sakti hai? Waseem! Mujhe apne mazhab aur aqeede ke barey mein uljhan si hai.” Wo ek lamhe ke liye ruki. “Main ne itni tafaseer mein agar kisi ummati nabi ka zikr paya hai to wo Hazrat Isa Alaihissalaam hain aur main nahin samajhti ke hamare nabi Hazrat Isa Alaihissalaam ya maseeh-e-mau’ood hain.”
“Nahin….. ye wo nahin hain, jin ke aane ke barey mein Quran paak mein zikr hai.” Is baar usne apne alfaaz ki khud hi pur zor tardeed ki.
“Tum ab apni bakwaas band kar lo to behtar hai.” Waseem ne tursh lehje mein kaha. “Kaafi fizool batein kar chuki ho tum.”
“Fizool batein?”Imama ne be-yaqeeni se use dekha. “Tum keh rahe ho main fizool batein kar rahi hoon? Masjid-e-Aqsa agar hamare shaher mein hai to phir jo itne saikdon saalon se Falasteen mein Masjid-e-Aqsa hai wo kya hai? Ek naam ki do muqaddas jaghein duniya mein bana kar khuda to musalmanon ko confuse nahin kar sakta. Musalmano ko chodo, Yahudi, Isai sari duniya isi jagah ko qibla-e-awwal tasleem karti hai. Agar koi nahin karta to ham nahin karte, ye ajeeb baat nahin hai?”
“Imama! Main in ma’amlaat par tum se bahes nahin kar sakta. Behtar hai tum is mas’aley ko baba ke sath discuss karo.” Waseem ne ukta kar kaha. “Waise tum ghalti kar rahi ho, is tarah fizool bahes shuru kar ke. Main baba ko tumhari ye saari batein bata dunga aur ye bhi ke tum aaj kal kya padh rahi ho.”
Waseem ne jate jate dhamkaane wale andaaz mein aha. Wo kuch soch kar uljhe hue andaaz mein apne hont kaatne lagi. Waseem kuch der naraazi ka izhaar kar ke kamre se bahar chala gaya. Wo uth kar kamre mein tahelne lagi. Wo Hashim Mubeen se darti thi aur jaanti thi ke Waseem unse is baat ka zikr zaroor karega. Wo unke radd-e-amal se khauf-zada thi.
