Assalamualaikum,
Ramzan mubarak!
I’ve never been less prepared for Ramzan. I mean, even in the early year at Pune, when I knew very little, I prepared enough for Ramzan.
Not time time.
Although…
That may not be entirely true. Here’s what happened.
Back in October 2025, we started the prep (read: Amma had a few things in mind and I was just a reluctant co-founder of that muhim. Without divulging more details of those muhims ((muhimaat? muhimein?), let it suffice to say that the preparations have not stopped since.
So, why not much prep for Ramzan?
Today was my little niece’s aqeeqa. We wanted to do it on the 7th day as is mustahab (and let’s face it, doing aqeeqa during Ramzan was out of question). From making cardboard boxes for laddus (because ziplock bags crush the soft laddus) to packing to readying meat-bags for like 100-120 families… Making lunch, sending troups out for distibuting the packets. Add few toddlers and their insane demands in the mix. Uff, kaam thha ki khatam hi nahin ho raha thha. At one point, my sister wishfully said: Allah kare aaj chandraat na ho. Ramzan ki kuch tayyari nahin hai.
We all offered Isha and taraweeh in time, alhamdulillah! The kitchen cleaning etc took till midnight almost. I guess I’m tryingto say, we didn’t get enough time to sit down, meditate and do dua. All the duas and supplications were on the go, which makes it feel… weird, incomplete, not ramzan-like. I’m rattling, because I’m so freakin’ tired. 4:30 uthha bhi hai sehri ke liye.
How was your chandraat of ramzan?
