. When you’re on a mission to get your mini library ready, one mystery box just isn’t enough. I was on a hunt to find more avenues to get preloved books by weight. It was then that I stumbled upon BooksByKilo.in

These folks offer a variety of books stacks, by genre, by price, surprise boxes and also individual books. I opted for a large mystery box which promised 3Kg books. I was like, WOW!

 

Delivery

The parcel arrived within a week. The first parcel that I received had only 8 books.

ONLY 8 books?

I felt cheated. I was promised 3 kilos worth of books, and this stack was far from it.

Just to be sure, I had it weighed at a shop next to my house. The stack came out to be a little shy of 1300 grams. I shot an email to these folks. 

Guess what I heard from them?

They promised to send another parcel. Woohoo!

It too them two weeks to send the next parcel because they were waiting for new stock. This was what I got.

There is a tiny mistake. The book at the top, Lesley Pearse’s “The House Across the Street”, was from some other parcel. But I got 7 more books. Another little problem was that I already had Nikita Singh’s “Letters to My Ex” from their website itself. But I don’t mind.

Cost Efficiency

The large book stack was 500 rupees, alongwith handling charges, and I had opted for two individual books, the total bill coming to 722 rupees. I got a total of 17 books, mixed genres, which averages to 43 bucks a book. 

Not bad.

Parting Thoughts

I’m happy with the way they handled my complaint and (almost) promptly sent another bunch of books my way. I’m looking forward to ordering more from them.
