Review

Ah, the enchanting world of “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” – a film that’s more than just a coming-of-age story; it’s a mirror to our own youthful dreams, aspirations, and friendships.

From the very first frame, this movie tugs at my heartstrings. It’s a kaleidoscope of emotions that takes me on a nostalgic trip down memory lane. As I watch Bunny (played by Ranbir Kapoor) chase his dreams of travel and adventure, I can’t help but remember the dreams I once harbored, the places I yearned to explore.

But what truly makes this film a treasure trove of feelings is the camaraderie among the characters. The chemistry between Bunny, Avi, Aditi, and Naina feels so real, as if they’re an extension of my own group of friends. Their antics, their laughter, and their emotional rollercoasters resonate with anyone who has experienced the intoxicating journey of youth.

And then there’s Naina, essayed beautifully by Deepika Padukone. Her transformation from a reserved, studious girl to a confident young woman is a testament to the power of self-discovery. Her journey mirrors my own moments of shedding inhibitions and embracing life’s unpredictability.

The film also masterfully navigates the complexities of love. Bunny and Naina’s love story isn’t just a clichéd romance; it’s a tale of two individuals who find their way back to each other while pursuing their individual dreams. It’s a reminder that love isn’t about losing oneself, but about finding a partner who complements your journey.

“Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” isn’t just a movie; it’s a journey through the seasons of life. It’s a celebration of friendship, love, dreams, and the bittersweet beauty of growing up. Each song, each moment is a thread that weaves into the fabric of my own experiences.

As I watch this film, I laugh, I cry, and I remember. I remember the friendships that shaped me, the dreams that ignited my spirit, and the moments that turned into cherished memories. It’s not just a Bollywood film; it’s a canvas on which I paint my own emotions and experiences, and that’s what makes it a cherished part of my cinematic journey.

Parting Thoughts

I am a big Ranbir Kapoor fan. I love all his performances, even Rocket Singh, which I think is grossly understated. That’s not all. I love every interview, whatever I have seen. He comes across as a self aware guy who plays to his strength. I will stop fangirling now and begin the review.

There is hardly anything that I don’t like about this film. This movie has helped me through tough times. Everytime I am stressed or frustrated, I have watched it and this movie always successfully uplifts my mood. That’s what it is. A feel-good movie. It gets emotional, melodramatic a bit but the sad mood doesn’t linger for long.

There are enough dialogues to stir you intellectually. But above all, it is a love story, a very good looking love story. Every nuance is perfectly executed. Rana daggubati plays Naina’s boyfriend in one scene but it sticks with you. Why wouldn’t it? It is Rana Daggubati. He is so handsome and so eloquent IRL, I must note.

The Cast

Very smart cast. Every character is nuanced and the actors become the characters making them more entertaining and relatable.

The Songs

No, I don’t mean the music. Music is good, undoubtedly but the video makes it worth repeated watch.

These songs are one of the best mood lifters.

There must be something wrong?

For me, nothing. Except that Deepika looks chubby in this movie. I like her better when she’s slim. Her performance is still kickass.

Assalam Alaikum and Allah Hafiz!
