Ishq Murshid Episode 1 Written Update, Recap and Review
Meet Shibra Salman
We see Shibra rushing Salman to the hospital amidst heavy downpour. It reminded me of Saturday-Septemer 23, 2023, when Nagpur was almost flooded.
Anywho, so we learn that Salman is due to be presented before a commision for a bribery inquiry. Despite his health, he comes to the office. His daughter, Shibra comes as “his voice” becuase the doctors have suggested him to speak less. If it doesn’t remind you of movie Bollywood movie Guru, you probably haven’t watched it. Look it up-closing court scene in Guru. Aishwarya Rai speaks for Abhishek Bhachhan in that scene.
Moving on…
Shibra talks for Salman’s defence, and then breaks down. From her monologue, we learn that Salman is the most pious man on earth. I mean, it could have been touching, but it didn’t. Shibra is Salman’s daughter. Of course she would defend her father, no? I don’t know why am I so picky these days, but this scene didn’t make much sense. How was she allowed in during an enquiry meeting? How did her monologue convince the commision that Salman is innocent? Beats me.

Meet Shahmeer Dawood
He angrily walks to his waiting car and goes directly to the qabrastan.
He isn’t happy to see the state of the qabr, but the guy at the graveyard doesn’t give too hoots about this rich dude. I love the expressions on his face.
Shahmeer doesn’t like his father who has turned into evil, as the poster in Dawood’s living room shows as much showing Jekull and Hyde. For the uninitiated, this is about the duo:
“Jekyll and Hyde” is a reference to the classic novella “Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” written by Robert Louis Stevenson. In this story, Dr. Jekyll is a well-respected and mild-mannered scientist, while Mr. Hyde is his alter ego, a sinister and violent persona that emerges when Dr. Jekyll takes a potion he created.
The phrase “Jekyll and Hyde” is often used figuratively to describe someone who has two distinct personalities or behaves in contradictory ways. It can refer to a person who appears kind and friendly in one situation but becomes hostile or deceitful in another. It’s a way of highlighting the duality of human nature, where one individual can have contrasting facets to their personality.
In literature and popular culture, the Jekyll and Hyde theme is often explored to delve into the complexities of human behavior and the struggle between good and evil within an individual. If you’re a fan of romantic comedy writing, you might find this theme fascinating to explore in your own unique, witty, and sarcastic style.
On this particular day, Shahmeer throws caution to the wind, goes to the graveyard, goes bicycling, enjoys a cold drink and sees a certain someone who runs a street school, Shibra of course. It starts to rain out of nowhere, and Shibra gives him the umbrella (kuch bhi?). Seriously, this scene makes no sense.

Shibra Salman Meets Shahmeer Dawood
Shibra’s friend Maleeha is marrying Shahmeer’s friend Faraz. Shahmeer spots Shibra arguing with a rich guy for irresponsible driving, and then with the cab driver for chillar… And he staggers… Cupid did the job. Yeh banda gaya kaam se.
Review
As I mentioned in the Cast and Characters post, I have some observation about the director Farooq Rind. Having watched Farooq-directorial Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay, and Pyar Ke Sadqay , there is one thing that I notice. He has a tendency to zoom in on people. And we saw one such shot in this episode as well as the camera shows us the pores in Omair Rana’s face.
Also, that umbrella scene didn’t sit well with me. I hope the next episode clarifies it.
Lastly, the last Dur e FishaN drama I watched was Kaisi Teri Khudgharzi where she played Mahek and her husband was Shahmeer… and here as well, her love interest is Shahmeer. I know… it doesn’t make sense to relate the two, but this is how my weird mind works.

I will add more characters as I watch the series.
