“Jafaa” unfolds as an elusive tale of love, sacrifice, and resilience against the odds. In the backdrop of familial expectations and societal pressures, the drama delves into the lives of two cousins, Zara and Andaleeb, whose destinies take unexpected turns as they submit to the institution of marriage. Andaleeb finds herself bound to a man much older than her, robbed of the love she once cherished, while Zara grapples with the tumultuous temperament of her husband. In the midst of turmoil and adversity will love conquer all? or fate has other plans in store?

Jafaa Episode 1 Written Update and Review
We see Hassan mourning someone’s death, and then we see him on the terrace parepet, presumably trying to kill himself. Or was he trying to feel a thrill out of it? We don’t know.
And we meet Zara arriving at the hospital, getting right into an operation.
There is Dr Numair who is very friendly and smart with his patients. I wish all doctors gave away chocolates; I can’t say about the treatment but healing would be much faster 😀
We meet Andleeb, who is arguing with her beau, trying hard to be cute, but all I can do is roll my eyes, so hard that it hurts. Can she pick up a different kind of role for once? Okay, I admit, we are not talking about Sehar here. We are talking about Andleeb. I will include my rant in the cast and characters post.
Speaking of Andleeb, what’s with her incessant need to talk to Moiz? She met him at the school, spent the whole day with her. At night, instead of attending her cousin’s mayon, she goes out to buy jhumka (what jhumka? Jonita rocked that song, no?).
I also questioned Zara’s judgement. She should have stopped Andleeb. The chaos that ensued when Sadia suddenly came to pick up Andleeb was so annoying. And I kept asking the same question: why does she feel the need to be with Moiz all the time. And that Moiz guy also comes across as a lukhha to me, have nothing better to do with his time.
And the exposition then continues to show us that Andleeb and Zara are cousins. Zara is getting married to Hassan, in a day or two. While Hassan pretends to be very sweet and understanding, he is nothing but a nagging little brat inside. How could Zara not talk to me and went on to deal with some other emergency in her house. Interesting character; he’d be difficult to watch, but interesting nonetheless.
This drama in general, and this episode in particular, was exactly what I had imagined-charming Mawra, effortless Usman, restrained Mohib and Sehar going over the top as usual.
But I still like everyone else in the cast, pretty much, so I would give this drama another try. Maybe I can skip through Andleeb’s bits. I WILL skip through Andleeb’s bits.
