Jhoom Episode 2 Written Update and Review

Assalam Alaikum dear readers,

Shabana Mukhtar here, with the review of the second episode of Jhoom.

The nuisance boys

In this episode, let’s talk about the lukkha guys first. Ricki, the softest of them all, is worried that the police will trace the shooting to them, eventually. The other three, Sherry, Billy and Tony, are least affected. The jeep they were in, had a fake number plate. Billy’s father is a big hotshot (some kinda minister, surely) so the police wouldn’t arrest them even if they were traced. Also, Billy thinks that shooting someone isn’t a big deal because sooner or later everyone will die.

The two scenes goes on to show the problematic mentality that our society in general, and rich people in particular have. Since Hashim Nadeem is penning the story, the ugly face of society will be shown time and again.

The diva on the high horse of morality

Dr Maryam had been quite a snob while talking to professor Tauqeer. I mean, sure, she doesn’t know the evil things her own brother is doing, or that he was a reputed professor, but she could have talked politely, no? I am not endorsing Aryaan’s behaviour at the hospital but I can feel his pain. When you are at the hospital with a loved one and nobody gives a damn, it physically hurts you, and the helplessness makes your eyes water. Just saying…

Anywho, so Dr Mahlab recognizes the professor. Long story short, Dr Maryam realizes what she has done, and takes her compliant back.

Nahin nahin, itna kaafi nahin hai.

She goes to meet Tauqeer and the two get to talking as if they were old buddies just aching to share their sob stories with each other. Maryam talks about her deceased parents and her brother Sherry. On the other hand, Tauqeer talks about his failed marriage (for which he is largely to be blamed), his ex’s second marriage, and the effect it had on Aryaan. He also talks about the irony that while he teaches anger management, his own son breaks all rules of the course.

Their meeting conveniently ends as Aryaan comes home. He is super to see Maryam to say the least.

Aryaan: why did you take your complaint back? Were you scared?
Maryam: yes

And that changes everything.

The lovelorn angry dude

Aryaan can’t stop thinking about Dr Maryam. And then overnight, he is a changed man, sort of.

The next time he comes to the hospital, he even helps another man calm down a bit. Dr Maryam is super amused, and she finds Aryaan “cute”. Achha achha, toh dono taraf hai aag barabar lagi huyi.

The party

Tina is discharged. This hospital is so good that the doctors hug the patient and walk her out upon discharge. I wish I had such experience at the hospital.

Sam throws a party for tina. At the party, Aryaan and Maryam have an awkward encounter but Aryaan does apologize to Maryam.

Sam proposes to Tina and then there are some nice moments. Something tells me that this party will be ruined by Sherry and his lukkhe friends.

Review

As I said in the previous episode’s review, there is a lot to unpack in this drama and I’m here for it.
