Mere Ban Jao Episode 14 Written Update & Review
Assalam Alaikum Dear Readers,
Shabana Mukhtar here. Today, I’m going to be reviewing the 14th episode of “Mere Ban Jao.” I have to admit, this episode left me feeling quite hopeful and scared at the same time.
Fardeen & Farah
Okay, so let’s do a quick recap of the previous episode. Murad talkes to Farah and Naeema and convinces them to stay. In this episode, we see Murad talking to his niece Farah and painting a sorry picture of Fardeen. He makes it sound as if Fardeen is the victim here, and the epitome of innocence. What surprises me more is that Farah falls for this. Seriously, girl? I thought you had better judgement than that.
Later, Farah talks to Fardeen. We see a long montage of them spending time together. Before we know it, Farah confesses that she has had a crush on Fardeen since like, FOREVER. The elders are also happy to see this. You get where this is going, right?
Yeah, the two gets hitched.
Zaki wants to study
Zaki wants to study; he really does. We come to know that he has been trying to appear for his graduation exams for the past six years but can’t do so for one majboori or the other. Hajra, however, wants Zaki to focus on their tailor shop and make more money for the upcoming wedding. Now, Azmiya being the heroine, how could she let hero’s dreams die?
One pep-talk to Zaki and some cajoling to Hajra, and bamm… Our hero is preparing for the exams. Isn’t Azmiya the sweetest thing?
The secret’s out
Azmiya finds her gold chain in Zaki’s stuff, the chain that she now assumes is sold. After a long dialogue about what’s more precious, gold or self-respect, she relents. She wouldn’t sell her chain. Now, how to make money, then?
Wait for it.
Let’s journey back a little. The previous episodes have established that Nadra might have a tongue of fire but she has a heart of gold. In episode 13, she had even offered to stitch the dresses for Azmiya. That was a foreshadowing, to establish that Nadra can stitch. Now, on to the big reveal.
Azmiya’s new avatar
Until now, I used to feel that Azmiya is just a pretty face. And, let’s face it, she has been pretty dumb as well. In this episode, we see the stroke of her genius for the first time. She takes all the cut-pieces that are at Hajra’s home, presumably leftovers, does some mix-and-match and designs some kurtis and jackets. Nadra helps with the stitching. By the time the bread-earners get home, a nice collection is ready. Superfast, huh? Hajra and Zaki are pretty impressed by this.
As are we.
I know this is just a drama, but for a moment I wanted to reach out and ask Hajra:
“Khala yeh dikhayen zara, mujhe achha lag raha hai.”
I kid, of course.
There was one thing that bothered me, though. Ideally, these cut pieces, and the remains of the fabric belongs to the customer and should be returned UNLESS they tell you to keep it. Now, I’m not saying that this family keeps customer’s stuff without their permission; maybe the cut-pieces were bought by Hajra herself… What I’m trying to say is, that this behaviour is a general practice in muslim tailors, and should be condemned. Drama ho ya real life, har chhoti chhoti baat se kuch seekhne ko milta hai.
I digress.
Hajra aunty will now sell these “designer wears” and “make more money”. Azmiya is becoming like a family now. Isn’t that wonnerful?
That was my take on this episode, 2.5 days too long. I’ll see you in next post. It’s 3:30 now, jayen, sehri khayein aur kal ke roze ki tayyari pakrein.
