Muamma Episode 1 Written Update and Review

Ever since I began reviewing Pakistani dramas again, I’ve been intrigued by Muamma’s YouTube shorts, clips that show Saba Qamar at her best. However, I felt that the comeback of sorts should be with a romance and not a mystery. After three weeks of watching and reviewing Pakistani dramas, I think it’s time to take on Muamma.

Read Muamma | Cast and Characters if you haven’t checked it already.

The episode begins with Jahan Aara getting ready with a smile, putting on lipstick. Suddenly, she hears things, feels things and her expressions change-to that of fear, agony, pain.

She wipes off the lipstick, but then, after a few moments, recollects herself, and applies it back.

Asiya comes running, to say that it’s raining. Even though she promises that she has picked up the laundry from terrace, Jahan Aara runs upstairs, full filmy style, mesmerizing the audience and Zeeshan alike. Look at him, bas raal tapakne ki kasar reh gayi hai.

Jahan Aara is saving the cats. So, it shows us that she’s kind towards animals.

Zeeshan has come to talk to Jahan Aara. She talks formally, even coldly, like  alandlord talks to a tenant. Zeeshan seems to be offended that Jahan Aara isn’t giving him much bhao. It tells us viewers that Jahan Aara may have given Zeeshan some hopes in the past. Why else would it be a muamma, right?

Jahan Aara is a puzzle alright, even Ashiq Hussain is curious about it. Asiya seems to know a lot about Jahan Aara’s past, but she has been sworn to secrecy, and promises to never tell a word.

Zeeshan is so caught up in his feelings for Jahan Aara that he starts mistreating and yelling at Zara, his wife who’s expecting. Later, he creates a scene in front of the whole mohalla. Zara tries to calm Zeeshan down, but he pushes her. And that’s where the episode ends. So, we can expect the next episode to start on high drama mode.

And this is the second time Zara’s reflection in the mirror is shown. I’m guessing the mirror is one of the characters?

Review

I have always felt Nabeel kinda hams in all the characters he plays, but this one was spot on. He portrays a man deep in love and very deep in confusion. Saba is awesome, as always. Her wardrobe is so carefully chosen, envy it a little bit. I like Nimra in her domesticated avatar, because I remember her from Ghar Jamayi, where she had slightly western look. This look suits her.

Others are also okay, but they haven’t gotten much screen time. I can’t wait to watch the other episodes. Hopefully, by next week’s episode 9, I’d be caught up with Muamma.
