Namak Haram Episode 7 Written Update and Review

Let’s quickly cover the recap of this episode.

Mustafa wants to see Amin Qureshi but Mureed doesn’t let him.

~
Amin Qureshi is upset to see Asma. Asma is devastated.

Malaika comes to see Amin Qureshi. He isn’t thrilled to see her of course. Kya khoob lafzon ki jugal bandi huyi, maa sadqay. Asiya also has a near run-in with Malaika. Both Mureed and Amin Qureshi lie through their teeth to cover it up. Needless to say, that it was Mureed who greenlit Malaika’s arrival.

~

Asma tries to consume sleeping pills but azaan’s voice jolts her. She calls ustani. Ustani tells her, “it isn’t your fault. Maybe someone in your family has done something that is affecting you”. It’s this notion that many non scholars are perpetuating in the name of Islamic teachings-what your father does comes back to you. This is frequently refuted by muftis and ulemas.

ولا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أخرى

This is a frequently used phrase from Qur’an roughly translates to:

No bearer of burdens shall bear another’s burden.

Koi bhi kisi aur ke aamal ka bojh nahin uthayega.

Makafaat is the same person bearing the consequences of his/her act, not someone else.

Anywho, ustani does impart an important lesson, unintentionally I guess?

Ustani: Khudkushi haram hai, nikaah halaal.

So, Asma chooses her future.

“I’m ready.”Asma tells Amin Qureshi.

And then Mureed slow walks out of the hospital. The nikaah takes the same amount of time. I loved how little time they spent on nikaah. It was so intentional .

This image says a million words.

~

I love how he does everything with precision. And I particularly loved his conversation with Asma after nikaah, how he rubbed his temple as if he was trying to control his words even though every work he spoke was calculated-someone is taking a revenge, you’re at the mercy of someone else, and so on. Like I said, precision!

Has someone noticed the “naming convention” of this drama characters? All the characters are named starting with “A” except those who have suffered at the hands of Amin Qureshi in more ways than one-Mureed, Mustafa, Malaika. It’s probably my exhausted Friday brain finding links but it’s funny. Don’t you think?

I will add more characters as I watch the series.
