Introduction

Saima Akram Chudhry and Danish Nawaz–the writer and director duo who gave us gems like Chupke Chupke (I quite liked it) and Hum Tum (it was hit-n-miss). This duo now brings us another romantic comedy Kaala Doriya.

Kaala Doriya is story of two families who despise each other. The guy and the girl, especially can’t tolerate each other. When they fall in love, all hell breaks loose. Will they be able to cross the hurdles thrown their way by family or will they power through to come together as one? Watch Kaala Doriya to find out.

Drama Kaala Doriya Episode 1 Written Update and Review

The first episode does a fine job of introducing all the characters and how they are related to each other. It also shows which character is annoying (read: Mahnoor), which all characters are super-sweet (Bi Amma and Abba Miyan, Nida and Faraz), and which all are tough on the outside and sweet on the inside (the rest of them). Shuja and Muneer, the two brothers had some tiff over asset distribution (as is the case with many Pakistani families. Watch JTR and Mufti Tariq Masood QA sessions, if you don’t trust me. Over that dispute, the two brothers have separated-the father living with older son Shuja and the mother living with younger son Muneer. The situation becomes more complex as Shuja’s older daughter Nida is married to Muneer’s older son Faraz. When Shuja and family move back to their older house right next to Muneer’s, that is just icing on the cake.

Now, the stage is all set for a rom-com.

Review

I have said what I feel about Sana Javed playing Mahnoor. Whether it’s Ramsha Khan playing Neha Qutbuddin in Hum Tum, or Sana Javed in this drama, both are such misfits for rom-com. Incidentally, their characters are also super-annoying and super-arrogant.

I know, I had vowed to stop watching the dramas, but this one felt like it could be funny. If it’s not, only I’m to be blamed for my choice.

I hope this drama is better than Hum Tum 😀
