New York Times/USA Today bestselling author Melanie Moreland, lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of twenty-seven-plus years and their rescue cat, Amber. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them.

She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys travelling, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.

Synopsis

What if you had to do the one thing you hated most to get the guy you loved to notice you?

Ryan Hunter’s parties are legend. And tonight she’s going to be there.

Lisa Matthews anticipates the return of her best friend and only love since kindergarten from soccer camp. But when Tony finally shows up, his mind is more focused on another girl. And worse, she’s a soccer player. Fighting for the attention Lisa craves, she’s just a hairbreadth away from making a very stupid decision. But when extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures, she’s prepared to play ball to get her man.

The tryouts are hell, the first match ends bloody, and the morning after the selection party she wakes up in the worst place possible—in the arms of the captain of the soccer team. The hottest guy in school… Ryan Hunter.

Plot & Review

Plot:

The story is about Lisa Mathews and how she chases her best friend into the playground, eventually falling for Ryan, who has been smitten by Lisa since ages.

Review:

Lisa falls in love with her childhood friend, who in turn falls in love with a tramp. When she goes for the play out aka sports audition for the team, Ryan, the team captain gives her a tip or two and she gets selected. From then on, she fights Ryan’s charms, gives the best replies to her love interest’s love interest and learns to play the game.

What I like the most is the training session between Lisa and Ryan. Their first date and that tequila shot kiss was so hot.

The story is cute and quite similar to some other YA books I’ve read but this one was funny and not yucky.

I would say 3.5 stars, but on the good side.

But, the story doesn’t end there. The chapters that follow are repetitive as both announce their love for each other over and over again.
If it wasn’t for the last few chapters, it was a five star read. A nice read nonetheless.
