Yeah, I’m now commenting on cricket, because…why not?
This match was between two of my favourite teams. Watching Afghanistan is a treat as they put their blood, heart, soul, sweat and everything else they’ve got into their game. And Pakistan, is, well… Just fun. They are either too good or too pathetic, and today they kinda showed the later.
I would have loved to see Rashid Khan play but his team played so well that he didn’t have to come to the ground. Rehmat and Hashmatullah did a fine job of a solid winning.
I loved the calm and composed Rehmat. No matter how many shots he hit, he was in complete control of his emotions. Also, the way the two boys ran between the wickets and too several 2 runs was commendable.
The most memorable moment of the day, however, was when the match ended and Rizwan hugged Hashmat. Jo bhi hai, achha khele thhe. It reminded me of the scene from Chak De India when the captain of the opposing team lends a hand to Kabeer Khan to get up from the ground. It also reminds me of the India vs Pakistan match in Asia Cup when Iftikhar tried to hit a ball and hurt his nose. Rahul so affectionately removed Iftekhar’s cap when meds arrived. Moments like these are pure gold. Koi hai jo iss pe controversy create kare?
I cried yesterday when Kohli got out on 95. And I cried today when Afghanistan won. This world cup is turning into quite an emotional feat.
