Another failed attempt at making money and being a “wanted man”, this story takes Greg’s shenanigans to next level.

Review

I read Wimpy Kid #5 a long break after Wimpy Kid #4, like a good 10-month sabbatical. But boy did I absolutely love it. Yesterday, when I was particularly upset about something (something being leadershit at work), I needed some distraction, some fun, something that would make me laugh and think at the same time. An outing with Greg Heffley certainly helped.

This book made me question Susan and Manny again. I mean, I get it, the intention behind these books and I understand that even though Greg is technically the protagonist, he’s often the least lovable person in the room. But Manny is just a monster even at his very young age.

Another problem I noticed was that we didn’t get to see how Greg and Rowley were back to being friends; they were on no-talking terms in Wimpy Kid #5, right? I understand these books aren’t like a day-to-day narration of Greg’s life but Rowley is one important part of this universe and the “patch up” should have been an event, perhaps a book in itself.

I’d also like to see more of Rodrick. We had the second book dedicated to him and in book #5 and book #6, he’s just there in the background. Not acceptable!

A nice story, nonetheless.
