The Conflict
Okay, so shit hits the fan. Too soon, in my opinion. I would have liked to see “some” romance before this happened.
Anyway, so after Sania’s call, Nimra heads home because now she has nothing to say to Maani, right? Back home, Maleeha is also in a dilemma. Both start the conversation, and say the same thing. Haan bhai, dono haar gaye apno hi ki blackmailing ke hathon.
Maani comes there, because why wouldn’t he? He’s doing his job right, but Nimra says, “chale jao yahan se” and Maleeha says, “Nimra ka rishta bahot pehle se tay hai”. Badi hi koi palti-baaz maa-beti nikli yeh dono. Thoda tactically bhi handle kar sakte thhe?
Maani’s Predicament
Okay, so ro-dho ke Maani comes home, to be scolded by Behzad and Zehra.
Behzad then agrees to what Maani wants, on one condition. “Pehle saabit karo ki tum jo chahte ho woh uss se bahtar hai jo hum chahte hain”. Badi hi koi open-ended shart hai na? They can always say: Nawal is better than Nimra.
The Wedding Preps
Hashir and Naveeda bring some stuff to show to Maleeha and Nimra. They are both unimpressed but can’t say anything. Hashir also forces them to shift to their house. At the end, Hashir threatens Maleeha again:
Hashir: Nimra ko samjhao warna thik nahin hoga.
Isi baat pe Mufti Sahab ki woh baat yaad aa gayi: Aisa abba, kidhar labba… I have a vague feeling that I’ve said this somewhere but I can’t remember so I can’t link here.
The Love Triangle
Exams happening, Nawal in a good mood but the other two are sado-ing. Maani still talks to Nimra, because he found the card she wanted to give to him. Nimra dismisses Maani again.
Nawal comes to Nimra’s house for group study, and learns about Nimra’s nikaah. Like a good friend, Nawal just knows that Nimra isn’t happy about this. I was just thinking, will Nawal be just as understanding when she finds out who it is that Maani loves?
Best Scene
Maani on the beach, controlling his tears, and then finally weeping when Nimra talks shit. Behroz bhai, tussi chha gaye ho. Saboor was also nice when she said: “aap mummy Baba ko meri taraf se haan keh dein”.
