Raqaas Episode 2 Written Update and Review
Hello, Patriarchy!
Dilawar talks to Fawad about Urooj’s proposal. It was such a long-winded proposal and laced with such patriarchy that I almost gagged. I am all for both genders having their place in this world, but the generic statement like “aurtein hamesha bewaqoof hi hoti hain” makes my skin crawl.

The Meet-Not-So-Cute
Udhar Urooj comes to Hamza’s house, again. AGAIN. This time “rain” is the excuse.
“I’m an artist, shifted from UK, I play music, I sing songs…” Hamza introduces himself and then asks Urooj some questions. He knows Dilawar Ali, as inm hard heard things about Dilawar Ali’s “rage”. In the next scene, he shows a sample of his own rage: Just because Khairu slipped and dropped the coffee mugs, Hamza yells at Kahiru and Naaz, both. Irony at its best. I wike it.
Was that outburst enough? No. He snaps at Naaz, refuses to meet some music aspirants. Then he snaps at Urooj for asking some questions, I like it. He says it the way he sees it. I wish I could react the way I want, like telling my manager: a cardboard box has more opinions and personality than you.

Let’s Get Philosophical
On the way back to Urooj’s house, Hamza and Urooj talk, quite philosophical it was.
Urooj: “Aap notice karte hain main aap ke ghar ke saamne jaati hoon?”
Hamza: “Notice karne mein aur nazron ke saamne se guzarne mein farq hota hai.
Urooj: “Aap ke ghar se piano ki awaz aati hai.”
Hamza: “Kisi ne toh notice kiya ki main piano bajata hoon.”
Urooj: “Notice karne mein aur sunai dene mein farq hota hai.”
Kafi zor se flirting ho rahi thhi Hamza ki side se.

An Interesting Dynamic
Khairu isn’t very happy about Hamza’s outburst even though Naaz tries to console Khairu. It was a nice filler scene. I would like to see Hamza being kind and understanding with Khairu and Naaz.

The Reveal
Bano, the help at Urooj’s house, is very aware of the rules of the house, and gently objects on the loud music.
At dinner table, things quickly get awkward because Fawad doesn’t know that Urooj doesn’t know about their “wedding”. Urooj walks out of the dining room and Nighat calls ir “sharm” because this is what mothers do. And then Nighat tells Urooj: Shaadi ho jayegi toh sab thik ho jayega.
Review
The story lines seems very dated to me, and I don’t think I’d be able to watch this (boring) story for long, but so far, enjoying to see Danny Z. Hamza seems like a quirky character.
