Dar-e-Nijaat | Episode 21 Side Note

PS: I’m not happy with the screenshot but it was the best I could do. I haven’t brought my headphones here (I’m in Pune) and can’t watch the usual way (on my android phone) so had to watch on laptop and it wasn’t behaving nicely.

A new drama by Umera Ahmed. That’s all I want to say.

Writer: Umera Ahmed

Dar-e-Nijaat Episode 21 Side Note

I wanted to say this when I posed my thoughts on Dar-e-Nijaat Episode 21. But I felt too lazy, I was trying to clear up as much backlog as possible. Backlog has increased and this thought has stuck to my mind, so today I will get it out of my system.

So, Zamil has completely destroyed Zaryab’s confidence, right? She’s constantly thinking about it, trying to come up with ways to get back at Zamil, find a way to prove that he was wrong. She married Abu Bakar for that very reason, just because Zamil said: woh tumhari dadda ka favourite Abu Bakar, woh bhi tum se shaadi nahin.karey.gaaaa.

She hasn’t changed one bit, she’s still spoilt and rude, but she’s also constantly scrutinizing herself, in perpetual self-doubt. So, when Abu Bakar sends her a verse from Quran about hidayat etc, she thinks he’s taunting her. Chor ki daadhi mein tinka wali baat. And she quotes that verse from Quran which she thinks applies to their situation. For reference, its Ayat 26 from Surah Nuur.

“Wicked women are for wicked men, and wicked men are for wicked women. And good women are for good men, and good men are for good women. Those [good people] are declared innocent of what the slanderers say. For them is forgiveness and noble provision.”
My question is, how does she know that? I mean, one has to be at least surrounded by people who talk on these topics, refer to Quranic verses in regular life to know this. My father is Hafiz-e-Quran, almost all my siblings have done Dars-e-Quran (learning transaltion and tafseer of Quran), and yet, until a few years ago, I didn’t know of this verse and its meaning the way I know now. I may have read about this in some novel, but never knew it comes from Quran until a few year ago. Zaryab knowing it made me think: how does she know? Are we to assume Kishwar Jahan talk about this ayat?
My brain also went into a weird space, very strangely. I recalled that scene from Sinf-e-Aahan where Kubra Khan’s character changes car tyre when travelling back from PMA with her parents, leaving her parents shocked: ki dekho hamari beti kitna badal gayi hai. Hold on, let me search for her name. So, Mahjabeen Mastan’s scene is that she asks where she can park her car, and Platoon Commandar Major Samia mocks Mahjabeen. In short, no cars for cadets. How and when did Mahjabeen learn to change a car tyre? Military training mein sikhate hain kya? Mujhe nahin pata because I’ve never been nor I ever will, be part of military.
And that only sums up how strangely my mind works. If someone else also thought about it, do comment. If someone knows the answer, also comment. Jumua Mubarak!
