10 things I Notice Everytime I Watch Kya Hua Tera Wada song from Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin

I have a tendency to resort to Bollywood music every now and then, I like my dosage of nostalgia, you see. I’m not proud of it, but that’s what I do.

Kya Hua Tera Wada (Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin)

Today, I recalled this particular one, and watched it a couple of times, and I couldn’t help but notice a few things about this video. Unsurprisingly, I notice the same things EVERYTIME I watch the video, so I guess it’s time I just pen it down and get it out of my system.

  1. …the lipsync is on point. It’s almost as if the actor is actually singing it. It was the thing with older songs. Everybody knew how to lip-sync.
  2. …the younger version of heroine is hammy AF. Kitna overacting kiya hai uss ne?
  3. …that both older and younger versions are dressed exactly the same, barring the blue headband older version of guy is wearing
  4. It confirms my imagination of nightclubs. I mean, my introduction to nightclubs were Ibn-e-Safi novels. Almost all crimes start at a nightclub or the investifations take place there, or something happens. Inclusion of nightclubs is like adding glamour in the novel to make it more commercial. This song is EXACTLY how I’d imagine people sitting on different tables and watch the performance. The only difference is, the novels almost always show a provocative dance by a neem-uryan raqqasa, and NEVER a man singing heartbreak song.
  5. …that the singer’s face reminds me of someone, but I can never pinpoint who it is. NEVER.
  6. …that this is one of the FINEST RD Burman songs.
  7. …that Majrooh Sultanpuri’s lyrics are awesome. A “proper” poet writing lyrics makes a whole lotta difference.
  8. …that this song is a movie in itself. We see this song of betrayal, and also see the flashback of what transpired for this song to take place.
  9. What I still don’t understand is: how come she’s reacting so openly and Rishi Kapoor doesn’t say a word. It also makes me want to watch the movie to see the aftermath of this song. EVERYTIME I watch this song. And I have never watched the movie until now. NOT.EVEN.ONCE.
  10. …that Rishi Kapoor looks stunning… I mean, just wow. Everytime I see younger Rishi Kapoor, my mind shouts: Sajid Hameed. Everytime I read a Jasoosi Duniya novel, I think of Rishi Kapoor. In my head, if Jasoosi Duniya novel was adapted into a movie, Rishi Kapoor would have played Captain Hameed.

There, it’s out of my system now. Phew!
