Best Advice Ever, the Award Goes to…

Hey there, lovely readers! 🌼

Shabana Mukhtar here, ready to chat about today’s daily prompt: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Oh boy! this question is like a can of worms. If there is one thing that people love to do the most, is giving advise. Well, that, and talking about themselves. Given that I’m an old mule, I’ve received plenty every since I was a kid. and it hasn’t stopped now. to think of the best advice is tough, but I will try ma best.

Buckle up folks, because we’re diving deep into the murky waters of advice. If there’s one thing humanity collectively excels at, it’s dishing out advice like it’s going out of style (smell the sarcasm). And trust me, I’ve been on the receiving end of more advice than I can shake a stick at. From the tender age of a kid to the seasoned years of being however-old-i-am, the well-intentioned guidance just keeps on coming. So, let’s embark on a quest to unearth the crown jewel of advice, shall we?

The Cliché, Yet Timeless Gem

Now, let’s talk about the advice that’s so commonplace it practically has its own theme song:

“Listen to everyone, but do what your heart says.”

It’s like the greatest hits album of advice, playing on a loop in the background of our lives. And, if I’m being honest, it’s one that I’ve nodded along to more times than I can count. Yet, here’s the confession: even with all my years of wisdom, I sometimes find myself trying to please the masses and taking their advice. Old habits die hard, right?

Elsa’s Wisdom

The second piece of advice that I receive very often, and I really pay heed to, is,As my girl Elsa wisely croons in “Frozen”:

“Let it go!”

This is the one that I live by, or try to live by.

The wisdom of Disney!  it’s all about letting it go. Letting go of what, you ask? Well, that’s the beauty of it – it’s open to interpretation. Let go of worries, grudges, expectations, or perhaps that extra slice of cake you know you shouldn’t have (but who’s judging?). It’s a mantra for embracing the present and relinquishing the burdens of the past.

Some Off-the-Mill Advices

There are some more advices that are thrown at me at random, like “Be Good”, “Take it Easy”.

People have told me “Take it easy” so often, I started to wonder if I come across like tightly-wounder or something. I have stopped caring since.

The Mystery of the Blank Slate

Now, there’s a moment of truth where, frankly, I’m drawing a blank. Maybe it’s the sheer abundance of advice swirling around, or perhaps my brain’s decided to take a tea break. Either way, there’s just nothing that comes to mind right now.

A Dose of Reality

And finally, the advice that hits hard no matter who’s dishing it out:

“Don’t let greed get to your heart.”

Because sooner or later, we’ll all kick the bucket, leaving our hard-earned money for someone else to enjoy.

It’s the stark reminder that life is fleeting, and we can’t take our wealth to the great beyond. So, why not sprinkle a little generosity along the way and keep the bigger picture in mind? Just a thought.

There it is, a non-answer to the daily prompt cuz I’m still blank. There might be more if I scratch my brain s’more, but this would have to do until then. These are some of the advices, from clichés to Disney tunes, blank slates, and cold, hard truths. The best advice? Well, it’s like trying to pick the juiciest apple from the orchard – it’s a matter of personal taste. But one thing’s for sure, in this whirlwind of wisdom, there’s always a nugget of truth waiting to be discovered. Until next time, dear bloggers, remember, it’s your life, your choices, and your can of worms to explore!
