Moment of the Day #3

My sister had planned for a angethi feast. What we call angeethi is this:

  • thin, runnycurry is made with meat of your choice
  • thick naan is made with dough of flour, turmeric, kalaunji
  • the naans are crushed and kneaded into small bits
  • then cooked with curry until it gets soft.
  • decorated with a lot of chopped corriander leaves and golden brown onion
  • served with salad of choice, most prefereble being “kachoomar”:
    • finely chopped onion, green chillies, corriander leaves
    • seasoned with lemon and salt
    • mixed well so ingredient ka kachoomar nikal jaye, hence the name

I googled what’s the official term for it, couldn’t find it, but that’s not important.

So, she said she’d bring by dinner time. We were waiting. She came first, and then my nephew brought the big thaila with a pot of angeethi and other stuff. When she finished unpacking, we all were in for a shock; there was mooli ke pattey.

Sis: Why did you bring that?

Nephew: aap ne to kaha thha mooli ke pattey tod ke rakhna.

Sis: Arey toh mooli rakhna thha na.

She almost wanted to hit my nephew. But I thought it was funny AF. Mooli ke pattey 😀
