Review

I got the book around 5 pm, started reading around 7 and finished it in one sitting. I NEED MORE BOOKS LIKE THIS.

This book was sourced from a scrape shop, five books for 100 rupees. It feels like a steal. This one was the best: in near-mint condition, thick glossy pages, hardcover. I checked out usual preloved booksellers for this: the price is upwards of Rs 250.

This was fourth book but enough context was given for me to understand the crazy world of Dog Man. I loved the jokes, and loved that it was smart, not expecting the reader to be a dimwit. Sharp jokes and sarcasm were sprinkled throughout, IYKYK types. I particularly liked two.

  1. The dog man says nothing and the reporter woman rants an article with stereotypical journalistic lingo and at the end dog man just taps his nose. Hilarious.
  2. The cat’s interaction with salesgirl was hilarious. “You are not a very nice person, are you? I was only trying to help. You don’t have to be so mean, you know. All you had to do was ask nicely.”
And The illustrations were lovely.

I know this was a surprise find and I may not get other books in the series so easily, so cheaply, but if I ever get my hands on these books, I’m in. LOVED IT. BEST BOOK OF OCTOBER 2026.
