Kindered Spirits by Rainbow Rowell
‘Everybody likes everything these days. The whole world is a nerd.’
‘Are you mad because other people like Star Wars? Are you mad because people like me like Star Wars?’
‘Maybe.’
If you broke Elena’s heart, Star Wars would spill out. So when she decides to queue outside her local cinema to see the new movie, she’s expecting a celebration with crowds of people who love Han, Luke and Leia just as much as she does. What she’s not expecting is to be last in a line of only three people; to have to pee into a collectible Star Wars soda cup behind a dumpster or to meet that unlikely someone who just might truly understand the way she feels. Kindred Spirits is an engaging short story by Rainbow Rowell, author of the bestselling Eleanor & Park, Fangirl and Carry On, and is part of a handful of selected short reads specially produced for World Book Day.
About Author
Rainbow Rowell writes all kinds of stuff.
Sometimes she writes about adults (ATTACHMENTS, LANDLINE, SLOW DANCE).
Sometimes she writes about teenagers (ELEANOR & PARK, FANGIRL) .
Sometimes — actually, a lot of the time — she writes about lovesick vampires and guys with dragon wings. (THE SIMON SNOW TRILOGY).
Recently, she’s been writing comics, including her first graphic novel, PUMPKINHEADS, and the monthly SHE-HULK comic for Marvel.
She lives in Omaha, Nebraska.
Review
This is a combination of recap/review/rant (but mostly rant).
Why did I purchase this book?
Kinderred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell, I got it for 49 rupees from bookchor.com and this is probably one of the worst bargains ever that I got during my Birthday book buying spree.
I read Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell a long time ago, kinda like it, knew she wrote long books and I thought that another book on by this author would be a nice edition to my bookshelf. Little did I know…
Why did I pick this book as wildcard entry to July TBR?
Because I was so shocked by the size of this book when I did book haul.

So, I started reading this on 7th of July and finished date and it within a couple of hours
This book is 62 pages of this story, followed by 20 pages of introduction of some other story. My brain exploded with frustration.
I am cheap. I want to make the most of my hard earned money. Allah is my witness I struggle at work every day, control myself from a punching my manager and some of my colleagues. So this money is very very hard-earned. I agree, I also earn a lot compared to the kinda money I’m spending on books these day but I don’t want to spend my money on this sort of mini books. Do I recover this sort of money such as 49 rupees from my extra-curricular activities like the writing and blogging? Sure, but that doesn’t mean I am okay with the pricing of this book.
Okay so with this frustration bubbling inside me I started reading the book.
Some Lines I liked

midtrovert
I like the term.
(Page 9)
I guess your old enough to waste your own time.
I loved this line. I think my mum feels this about me most of the time.
(Page 17)
…unwanted male attention … how does one go about attracting such attension? and is it impossible to attract just some of it? just a small manageable amount?
I agree, she can write well.
Review (of sorts)
What was this? Why was this there? You know what, these two questions don’t question things the way “kya thha yeh? kyun thha yeh”.
It’s like if I took all of my love and my admiration for mesophy and I tried to write 62 pages of this non-standard almost-pocket-size book. And just as I do that comparison I am thinking I probably should try that I think you stop me from doing that I would not published paper bags the were half of the book is some other story I do not mind the short story I actually like to read short stories but the whole Star war things keeping pages of 4 Facebook you are left with almost nothing.
Strangely though I was able to get all the references of Star wars. the Star wars nerves have talked about it enough. I have consumed enough content to know enough about Star wars to know that the FMC was nerved enough to be part of that Elite 3 people queue in front of the cinema hall and that is enough amount of enough I have said in this paragraph.
And to make things for I had already covered through some of the reviews on good read page of the book I generally don’t do that because it paints my impression of the book but this time I was intrigued to know what’s there in such a small book. Boy did I feel bad for doing that. Some book reviewers are ruthless in their reviews.
Okay, so I didn’t hate this book. I just felt cheated for reading such a small book. If I had read this on kindle, I wouldn’t even have noticed the length of this story, and how star-wars laden it was.
Okay-ish book. I guess I should try to find more of her proper books.

Stay tuned for more book reviews.
Until next time, happy reading!
