Book Review | Daana Paani | Umera Ahmed | Meet the Characters

I was out on a hiatus, out of this country and away from my routine, so I missed one big development in fictional world.

Umera Ahmed is back with another story!

Say what?

Umera’s last outing was Alif–A memorable novel and a remarkable drama. So, this ought to be good.

This is only the first episode, and it does a fine job of introducing all the key characters. Let’s meet them one by one, shall we?

The Paani Family

Gaamu Mashki

The mushki of the village Jhok Jeevan. He recites Bahoo’s kalam Alif Allah as he supplies water to every single household in the village, to the masjid, to the animals around. Despite now having any kids for the ten years of marriage, he loves his wife unconditionally.

Allah Wasaii

Gaamu Shaki’s wife. She adores his husband’s voice and considers him highly.

Gaamu Mashki and Allah Wasaii’s only daughter who was born after Pir Ibrahim’s dua. Tasawwuf and Kashf at play here

The Daana family

Chaudhary Karamat

The village’s richest man, he gives daane to all the villagers who work at his haveli. Gaamu Shaki is one of the many families who owe it to Chaudhary Karamat.

Chaudhary Shujaa

Chaudhary Karamat’s only son

Pir Ibrahim’s daughter, Shujaa’s wife

Shujaa and Tajwar’s son, the hero who loses his heart at first sight

Okay, so now we have met the key characters. Without much further ado, let’s get to the story.

Tajwar’s help that she brought from her maika

Shakooran’s daughter and Motiya’s best friend. In love with her cousin Saeed

Batool’s cousin and love interest

Saeed’s father

Alright, with that, I will start reviewing the episode.
