Binge Watch 2025 | Rules of Engagement

Reason for Binging

Because YouTube shoved it in my face for weeks at length until I relented.

Reason for Choosing the Show

Gave a F.R.I.E.N.D.S. vibe. And do I really have anything better to do at nights except thinking of a million different ways of quitting my job?

About the Show

Bunch of friends dealing with different kinda relationships. Doh.

Jeff Bingham: the funny one
Audrey Bingham: the idealist wife
Adam: the dumb one
Jennifer: the annoying one: I don’t know why she annoys me. Also she’s the weakest link of the group.
Russel Dunbar: the creepy one the player but oh so cringy
Timmy: the doormat one
Liz: the obsessive one. She was introduced as Audrey’s friend in season 5 I guess? She’s too interested in their bedroom life. The moment I saw her,  I was like: she will make a perfect partner for Russel.

My One-Line Takeaway

We have a married couple, a couple who is about to get married, an adult who refuses to grow up, male friends who are always poking fun at each other. Fun vibes. If you like a bunch of friends and their quirks and can tolerate some cringe, this show is for you.

What I Liked

  • The show has some very funny moments. This note I took when Russel burned Timmy’s stuff accidentally in season 5 episode and threw water to extinguish the fire.

  • Jeff’s quips a lot, kinda reminding of Chandler Bing (Jeff Bingham) and just about everything he does or says is with his barely open eyes. That was sooo funny. In one episode from season 5 Audrey mimicked him, hilarious.
  • Also, in one of the episodes Audrey claims to be the funny one, something that others make fun of but she doesn’t relent. She also repeatedly claims to be the people’s person but she is so not.
  • Loved the Brena character.

What Didn’t Work for Me

  • David Spade’s Russel Dunbar seemed like an extension of  Dennis Finch from Just Shoot Me. Also, some people say that Russel’s a version of David Spade himself. Whatever it was, kinda got repetitive. He had no redemption arc except for the very last episode. Not a fan.
  • I don’t know why I can’t tolerate Jennifer later in the series. She has some great lines but her character is just flaky. Also their friendship dynamics with Binghams seemed a bit off. They fight in one episode but it doesn’t start from that very point in next. OR maybe the marathon video I watched has selected episodes. I didn’t like Jennifer, is what I’m saying.
  • Audrey quit her job and does absolutely nothing for a while. At her new job, she ain’t doing so well initially but by the end of it she seemed to have earned a huge bonus or something. I would have liked to learn more about her workplace.

  • Timmy was kinda exploited to the extend of being cringey.
  • Russel is so awful and noting bad ever happens to him which is the biggest flaw of the show. This is kinda like the first point, but hey, I can be repetitive as well, no?

Viewing Experience

  • Quite binge-worthy.

  • Light, hardly any emotional  scenes.

Favourite Character / Moment

Love Audrey and Jeff’s married life. Loved Jeff, hands down the best character.

Who Should Watch It

  • Those who want free entertainment on YouTube 😀

My Rating

🟢 Worth a Watch

Final Thoughts

I could watch more of Jeff, if there’s a spin-off.
